Hey! I had someone ask me about fitting a 24 neck onto a guitar body that was setup for a 24 fret neck. "Well," they said - "just buy a 24 fret neck from Warmoth and be done with it." Not so fast, my friend. Nope. Naa-ahh. I had to try to explain that guitar makers like ESP/LTD, Ibanez, Jackson, etc... sell 24 fret guitars - with specific 24 fret neck measurements that will only fit a body made with that number of frets in mind. Huh? What? I nearly went B-A-N-A-N-A-S trying to explain why a 24 fret Warmoth neck would not work on a 24 fret body made by the aforementioned guitar manufacturers. The way Warmoth presents the 22 or 24 fret option can TRICK someone very easily (myself included, btw), that a 24 fret Warmoth neck can be mated with a 24 fret routed replacement body. Warmoth's 24 fret solution is to have a diving board fretboard extension on the end of the neck (in addition to the tiny baby length one already in place for the 22nd fret) to mount the 23rd and 24th frets. Kinda nuts if you ask me. Not only do you need E.T. spec finger length to reach those 23rd & 24th frets, if you're that buffed out, super-yoked metal guitar player dude on YouTube, there's the risk of snapping the fretboard extension clean off in the heat and fury of some massive heavy metal Hell hammer-on lick. I made a neat-o diagram illustration showing the differences between a strat scale routed body split screened with a "shifted" pickup and bridge routed body, specifically made for a 24 fret neck where there's no diving board fretboard overhang. Hope this helps anyone thinking of just buying a 24 fret Warmoth replacement neck for their 24 fret guitar body & being done with it. Nope. Naa-Ahh.
