I've got a Squier Strat that I'm hoping to convert from a cool-looking piece of junk to a cool-looking respectable instrument, and I've been toying with the idea of chucking a conversion neck on it. I've read in other posts that for whatever reason, conversion necks tend to draw out the bridge saddles about 1/5" closer to the neck. This has me a little worried, since the Squier I've got seems to have a bridge that's seated about 1/8" further AWAY from the neck than normal Strats, and although it intonates fine on its current 25.5" scale neck, I'm a little worried that the bridge won't have enough leeway to bring the saddles out by another 1/5".

I'm curious what other people's experiences have been with conversion necks and their Strats. Have you noticed having to move the saddles significantly closer to the neck to get it to intonate correctly?

No I haven't experienced what you're talking about, though it's not surprising at all you'd need to re-intonate. I suggest that along with upgrading your neck, you get some new saddles too, if not a whole new bridge, since squier bridges are generally crap and the saddles are the most important part of the bridge. The saddles ought to come with longer intonation screws, if they don't take one of the old ones and head down to Home Depot and get some longer ones. Not a big issue overall.
