1SKB-66 Universal Case price increase.....

If you've been thinking about the 1SKB-66 Universal case for your Strat, Tele, or other similar guitar, I just wanted to pass along some info. Musician's Friend, Guitar Center, ZZ Sound, Sweetwater, etc, have all raised their price to $149, which leads me to think that SKB is raising their prices. Amazon still has the old price of $100.72, at least for now, but that may not last much longer. The 1SKB-66Pro is still listed at $159, but if the 66 Universal is going up, can the Pro price be far behind?

Just FYI.  :o

I built a hardshell case for the mandolin I made for my father and it's a bit of work. In addition, you really can't get the materials to make a case for the price of a factory built one. So, at +-$150 they're still worth the money.

That's how we justify postage increases. Until stamps get up to around $25/ea., they're still a bargain relative to delivering a sheet of paper yourself  :laughing7:

I think I paid $140 each for the two I bought a couple years ago but it appears I may have been an idiot for doing so.  :laughing7: Still, they remain my go to case for a strat should I need another one.

I know this might be a bit off topic, but I didn't think this neat little critter needed its own brand new thread. Its still relevant in that utility/storage use

Interesting, though it wouldn't work for me. I like to have my knee level with or higher than my hip when I play. But I could see where there is a place for this seat.

Just as a final note: I picked up one of those 1SKB-66 "Universal" cases and it fits my Strat perfectly. If you grab the guitar at the neck joint and really try, the guitar will move length wise less than 1/4", and not a bit side to side. Same style and quality as my Jazzmaster case. I'm definitely a happy camper.

(BTW, Amazon still has 'em for $100............)  :icon_jokercolor:

Thank you for this thread OP .

It got me to thinking about why I am keeping my beloved thousand Plus dollar Warmoth assembly in a darn gig bag, so I went to Amazon, and found one used like new with Amazon fulfillment, and joined the free trail of Amazon Prime for 30 days to get free shipping so...total cost with tax was 88 bucks. :headbang:

Now I've got to use the free shipping to get me a Husq. chainsaw sometime w/in the next thirty days.

I wasn't really ready to take full advantage of Amazon Prime, and the movies and what not, but hopefully I can watch at least a few good movies, like Skyfall I've been wanting to watch., and maybe order a few Cd's or other things before I cancel my Amazon Prime subscription.

I'm not saying you should cancel Amazon Prime, but if you're sure you're going to, mark your calendar or set an alarm in your phone and be sure to nip it in the bud. Otherwise, without warning, they'll nail your credit card for $100 (or whatever the annual rate is now) and you won't know it until you get the bill.

Note that they do have a monthly billing option that ends up costing a bit more over the course of a year, but is only $10/mo.

Personally, I think it's a good deal, but I buy a lotta stuff from Amazon so I end up saving a helluva lotta money in shipping, plus I get things faster and I get better deals on some things. The TV show/movie/music/ service leaves a lot to be desired, but it's better than nothing and in my case, is just icing on the shipping perks cake. If you need a streaming media service, Netflix is the way to go.

Glad it helped. I agree, I could never keep one of my guitars in a nylon bag. A fine instrument deserves the protection only a hard shell can provide. (IMHO)

Likewise. I average about 50-60 Amazon orders a year, and I share the Prime benefits with my wife and sons. Save us a ton of $ on shipping. Only other services I use is the Prime Photos and Amazon Drive. Free backup is definitely not a bad thing.  :icon_jokercolor:

See, now I didn't even know I had those things. Gonna have to look into that.

Thanks for the heads up on these cases.  I just ordered one using my wife's Prime account.  Ordered yesterday, arriving today.

Ok, so this isn't a SKB or price related, but it is a pretty cool case:

What a great idea! Don't need it for the guitar so much as for finding all the little pieces and parts that somehow find their way to the far corners of the case. But, it could come in handy for the guitar, too. Give you enough light to change strings or batteries or adjust something.

LEDs are such handy little devices. Lotta light from little power, long life, highly durable... what's not to love?

Never saw those LED cases before. Interesting..... I bought my oldest son a Gator when I got him his first guitar, a Squire Strat. Still going strong after about 15 years.

I believe they are just now releasing them. Brand new in other words.
