I mean really, what's the big deal here? OK, I do like the S-1 switch, I'd need another switch hole; I do like the staggered tuners, and the no-load tone control. So maybe the "Fender" sticker only cost $799.99? :guitaristgif:

oops sorry, the $90 case is "free" too

Staggered locking tuners probably add $5 to the cost of the thing. No-load tone control adds maybe $.05. Extra switch? Maybe $5, once you add in the labor of wiring it. Plus, it comes in two (count 'em!) different colors, so there's some investment risk there... Yeah, that's an expensive-to-build instrument, no doubt about it. Coming from Fender, I'm surprised they're selling it as low as $1,800. On the plus side, be thankful Gibson didn't come up with all those innovations. Les Pauls would be up around $7K <grin>

You're forgetting there's the union dues.  :icon_jokercolor:

and the all so important cost of marketing.
:laughing8:

Ash body with translucent gloss urethane finish... C-shaped Maple neck with satin finish... compound radius fretboard... That is a pretty good example of an off-the-shelf guitar someone could build (for about $800 less) using Warmoth parts.

Forgetting about the Fender decal for a moment, that's putting a dollar amount on something that, sadly, not everyone has the skill or patience to do. Which, thanks to Leo, basically involves screwing some wood screws into wood.
