Loved the showcase body with neck listed on the website. But then I caught the sticker price and got woozy and a bit delirious. Clicked off the page and my eyes were able to re-focus at last. I have apparently hit stagflation.
About all of the big pickup manufacturers have wiring diagrams online, if they don't have what you need google 'guitar electronics' and you should get lots of responses.
I went a different route with my canary neck and used pure Tung oil on it. 2 coats was all it took if I remember correctly and it is hands down my favorite guitar neck.
Try tuning down 1/2 to 1 full step and see if that helps. I have one that sounds bad at standard tuning but great 1/2 step down. Also not sure if the pickguard warping up off the body in your picture could have anything to do with it. Just an observation. Good luck!
Looks like a router burn to me. Also looks like the string will sit about on top of it making it less noticeable. Pure Tung oil darkens roasted Maple and makes it feel less dry to the touch!
Just as an option you can apply a pure Tung Oil finish to the roasted Maple. Helps with the dry feeling of the wood and doesn't make it "sticky". It does darken the color of the wood slightly, but it is dead simple to do.
Unless you finish the roasted Maple neck with some kind of oil finish you won't wind up with one looking like that photograph. It will also feel really dry to the touch. I ended up using a pure Tung oil finish on mine and it now feels really nice. Rosewood has more of a naturally oily feel and...
Wow. I have a grinder too and my first thought when I pick it up has never been 'let's go f@#% up my guitar'. Will never understand the whole artificial 'relic' thing I guess.
The only way that I found to make a pickguard that looks remotely professional is to first make a template out of MDF to shape. Attach your pickguard to the template with double stick tape and take out your trusty router with a pattern bit. Rout out the shape and finish with an angle bit or...
