I'd like to point out that I am proud of you for fully reading all 7 of my posts. 

Definately sounds like the pickup is accidentally tapped.  (only 1 coil working). Oh...woops...I'm not allowed to give out advice or opinions on here...because I run a repair business...my bad. :( In any case...could you post a picture of your wiring?

Do you repair guitars? My original answer 'echoed' actual advice, that was just as helpful as the guys before and after me that said...go see this website that makes pickgaurds.  I, infact, am not a website..but an actual person that has skills in making pickgaurds, and fixing/building...

I think this project sounds fun.  I can make you one (unfinished...ya' know...glossy etc.) to your exact specs for probably $500 + wood cost.  We can go pick out the wood, make some sketches, and I'll turn you out a fine specimen. There are some limitations to how thin a body can/should...
