I had a a hard time finding the exact wiring diagram I needed so I used the diagram from the wiring kit (tone shaper) and made a sketch using the HOoP dpdt switch diagram and added treble bleed. I have seen a few other wires in different diagrams (tone pot ground and a noise jumper). I have the...

That is awesome figure in that neck. Is it considered birdseye?

I just checked one of my necks (off of the body) and it does feel a bit tight when adjusting the end.

There is a good explanation of of how the modern necks work on the Warmoth site. Unstrung and flat is probably a good place to start. The strings will tension the neck into a relief that can be adjusted with the side adjustment. https://warmoth.com/guitar-neck-truss-rod#mechanism

I had a few somewhat warm days and wanted to try a vintage amber look on the neck. I think it ended up a little too orange. This was a screaming deal neck and I always wanted to try a pau ferro fingerboard. So, this will probably end up on a different body. My plan is to save up and get...

I have all of my goods together to start the wiring/build process. Waiting for pickguards and a ring to see what looks best. I did struggle with the wiring a bit. I had to add a neck pickup cover ground and chose a piece of wire the same as the pickup ground. As careful as I was, I switched the...

Clear is definitely on the table. I also ordered some clear stick on pick guard material. Just for pick scratch protection if I go with no guard. I’ll build up the wood mount option and see how I feel about it. I am also noticing that the pick guard shape doesn’t match the stripe I have around...

Mate black guard ordered Spud! I also ordered a pickup ring to see how the “no pick guard” option looks. My initial thought is that the tele pickup layout looks weird without a pick guard. But, I am putting that pickup layout on a flake jazzmaster body. So I am already out of the ordinary.

The matte black might be the answer. I think I ordered the black pearl guard before the sparkle PG’s were even available from Warmoth. Maybe black sparkle is the answer. Or clear….. I might have to do some artist renditions and try to decide. Like Spud said, it shouldn’t compete with the paint...

I think I like the pick guard. I might get a solid black and see if it goes better.

Really liking the candy black over the flake on the edges. It’s hard to photograph the flake finishes. The picture doesn’t do it justice.

I have my sand and polish done and it looks pretty good. A few pinholes and pits that you can see if you look edgewise to the top in the light. I will leave it for now, but I might do a few coats of 2K when it warms up and re- sand and polish. I’m in Michigan and it’s far from ideal finishing...

I haven't done any 2K clear yet. I have heard from people on this forum that it is the devil! I am on a quest to find an acceptable water based finish. The main reason is clean up. I can spray a few coats and then run the gun under some water and its done. No acetone or lacquer thinner. I still...

Thanks Rick! I did a jazz master bass with flake and candy overcoat a few years ago. While doing research on applying metal flake, I saw a lot of videos of these intricate pinstriped and patterned cars people were painting. A few of them really jumped out at me that were using the lace over the...

Thanks! For the Flake I use a "Loose Cannon" spray gun from Roth metal flake. It has a 3mm tip and it can handle the Monster size flake (.025in). For my clear and color spraying I have an inexpensive gravity feed gun from the Depot. It has a 1.4mm tip and it seems to work fine. My latest...
