That's great news!
In the spirit of UNofficial Warmoth, I'd note that the adventurous can probably use it just fine even with a modern construction neck. The 4th screw isn't necessary, especially if you're using light-gauge strings. For aesthetics or to you a bit of purchase, you can use a 4th...
There does seem to be a cult of vintage enthusiasts eager to apologize for and defend every choice Leo ever made. To each their own.
Maybe some of the nastiness could have been avoided with a quick run-down of many things Leo got right? You did acknowledge this very clearly, but maybe some...
If it’s off-menu I’d give them a call to see if they can do it. My guess is that a custom radius would require too much CNC programming to be feasible, but that’s just a guess. Good luck!
That color looks fantastic! Isn't the Fender version mystic surf green, not just metallic? Their mystic paints are another level of metallic, but not to the flake level. My favorite paint option I've ever seen on any guitar is Fender's mystic Aztec gold. Has Warmoth ever considered mystic paint...
I don't know of one, and this is already a reasonably slim/light block. Sorry about the back pain. I feel it in my neck/shoulders with a heavy guitar. I've learned through weighing a *lot* of guitar parts that by far the largest source of variance is the body. By comparison, nothing else makes...
That's a gorgeous lam top, I think chrome would look classy without competing for attention. Just my two cents, aesthetics are all about personal preference--until you try to sell it one day!
Thanks very much for this info, it’s great to have a direct before-after comparison.
The scientist in me wonders what the difference would have been if the same scale was used at both times. But the practical part of me wonders whether anybody really cares that much about maybe a few ounces?
The gold top gold looks great. Anyone have any good pics of Warmoth's candy yellow? I read someplace, probably on here, that it looks pretty gold, and I'd love to see real-world pics.
I suppose you could get 10 or 12 oz of finish onto a guitar body, but that would be a mighty thick finish! It's probably too difficult to estimate based on materials used, rather than pre/post weighing of the body itself.
I checked some figures I recorded on some Warmoth orders, before vs...
This looks great! I've been through a lot of variations on mint green through the years and can appreciate your attention to detail in seeking the one that looks right. I think your bridge has vintage screw hole spacing, whereas Warmoth drills holes for more modern versions. Here's a diagram...
