Finished my MIDI only guitar at long last

Steve: Sorry for the 'long' delay in getting back to you! I simply drilled a 1/4" hole through the front into the area where the tremolo springs go. You can just see it in the picture - in middle of both tremolo studs, about 1/8" in front of them. I carefully threaded each wire through that...

Finished my MIDI only guitar at long last

Thanks :-) The Axon tracks superbly with piezo pickups. I haven't even started customising the settings yet, but it's very playable using the default settings. One problem though - the Axon units have all been discontinued now, so don't expect any further support for them. You can still get...

Finished my MIDI only guitar at long last

Well, it's taken over a year or sourcing all the bits, and having the nerve and time to install all the parts - but I'm finally there! (It's a tobacco burst, so actually looks a lot more brown than in that picture - no red or yellow in real life) Specs are: - One piece Swamp Ash Soloist body...

    MIDI only guitar finally finished.

Finally - I've managed to get the nerves and the time to attack the Warmoth parts with a drill and chisel! (It's actually a lot browner than in that picture, which somehow has come out more red and yellow?) Specs are: - One piece Swamp Ash Soloist body with Tobacco Burst finish. Contoured...

    It's here! The pickup-less wonder.

Thanks for all the comments. I'm still amazed how it looks far better than I thought it would. The grain on the body (yes, it's a one-piece Swamp Ash) seem to flow beautifully into the grain of the fretboard (Pau Ferro). The matte vintage tint on the maple neck feels really nice too. The 'belly...

    It's here! The pickup-less wonder.

Yeah. I've got a set of Graphtech Ghost pickups and circuitry, along with an Axon AX-50, new MacBook Pro (thank you insurance company), and Behringer FCB1010 foot pedals. This baby is gonna be purely for MIDI; but with all gold hardware installed, it should look a little classier than your...

    It's here! The pickup-less wonder.

It's so damned nice :-) Just some serious drilling to be done over the next couple of weeks - good job I'm off work after Friday, for two whole weeks! It couldn't have been timed any better, really. Thanks to everyone who has given me advice over the last year of trying to decide what to...

    Ghost on a Wilky

Not yet, but the Ghost pickups are in a box next to me, and the Wilkinson is with Warmoth waiting for my neck and body to be finished! (About 3 to 5 weeks left till it all ships) I'll post pics when I've got everything, and again when it's all set up to go. I'll also have to find someone...

    Wilkinson VS-100. Thickness and metal?

Thanks a lot for your reply to this, and in the other thread too. I think I will probably get the drilling done my a machine shop in the interests of a quality job and personal safety ;-)

    GAS Alert!!!!

Ah! It all makes sense now. I suppose it's quite contagious - especially on this forum.

    Piezo Pick-up routing

Just bumping this question as I've just asked a similar one before noticing this thread. :tard: How thick is the baseplate, and what is it made of? I've not got much experience with drilling anything - especially metal, so am a bit nervous about doing it myself.

    Wilkinson VS-100. Thickness and metal?

Hi. I've just ordered some guitar bits, including a left handed, gold coloured, Wilkinson VS100 bridge. I'm going to install some Graphtech piezo pickups in it, and so am planning to get some holes drilled into the base plate to allow the wires to pass through into the body cavity. Can...

    GAS Alert!!!!

Sorry for being an idiot, but what does everyone mean by "GAS"? Is it an Americanism, or just something that's passed me by so far?

At last - first order made :-)

Just want everyone to know that 'I' wasn't complaining about my 8-10 week wait! I would obviously like the guitar in my hands right now, but that's just not being realistic is it. As long as the parts of of the high quality (almost) everyone on here says, then I'll be happy with a 12 week wait...

At last - first order made :-)

6 weeks would be perfect - I'm off work in 6 weeks, for a full two weeks. I bet the bits are delivered the day I go back to work though :-( Specs? OK: - Left hand Soloist body. One piece Swamp Ash with tobacco burst finish. Contoured heel, 720 mod, recessed Wilkinson bridge routing, NO pickups...
