Noted! I pretty much fear the worse and prepare for catastrophe from the moment I plug the unit in, until it’s unlugged. I stand way clear of everything when flipping the switch, only getting close to the leads or wires for repositioning after switching off. The reason I used the wire I did is...

Currently, yes. Just cut the top out of it to serve as my boil kettle, but when I burn the unit sits outside on a table.

Funny you say that. I love gold for the builds I've done. It's an earthtone for me the umami of metals, if you will. BUT I was contemplating a patina/heat stress process for all the hardware, sans the springs and threads...

It's controlled chaos and you're at the whim of the electricity once you power on. The control you do have is the baking soda solution. You wet only the parts you want to burn. The arc only travels where it's damp.

You are correct. I needed clearance the other direction. The Babicz bridge saddle height and Warmoth neck pocket depths don't always jive. Middle three strings were laying on fret board when playing frets 12 on out, maxed saddle height. So using the shim the other direction brought the headstock...

Yes! Do be careful, im throwing 20,000 volts roughly, but I wired up a neat rig with a switch and "on" light for warning. Always remember to power down before rewetting with your baking soda solution. I drove finishing nails into the dead center of the sides every 6 inches, and burned section...

I don't post very often, but I just finished my second build and thought I'd share some of my ideas and processes with you all. My first build turned out well and it has been my favorite guitar ever since. You can catch that here: http://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=25883.0 A nice...

I'll get a topic started on this build in the work in progress section and include more photos and video of the process. But in a nutshell, I fractal burned the sides with a transformer, bleached the entire slab, then dyed it blue. Finish was vinyl sealer and flat nitro.

Yeah, worked perfectly. Used a little coffee to stain the trimmed edge to match the factory edge stain. Got close to roasted maple anyway. You'd never notice. Plays like a dream and sounds bad ass.

Nice. Well, they arrive today, so I'll post some shots of the finished product. Hope I get the height I need!

Ordered the shims! Set of three. Wonder what stain color would make them match the roasted maple neck? We shall see!

Well, the issue is that bridge isn't tall enough really, so it's either lower the neck into the pocket or raise the bridge saddles. Yeah, I'm thinking this may be the only option aside from getting a different bridge... Shame the body is already finished... I just don't see how some guys...
