    Need Finishing Advice. First Project.

That's an amazing finish! I went to Wal-Mart today to check if ours had DEFT and sure enough they did.  Looks like they only carry the gloss and semi-gloss.  I'm assuming you buy the Mohawk toner online? I still have to check the local hardware store to see if they have some toner. As far as...

    Delay Pedals

I too built a BYOC delay which I thoroughly love.  Not too long of a delay time but I find myself constantly turning the knobs with my feet to change the sound of it on the fly.  It's crisp yet has a good analog feel, kind of a blend between analog fullness and digital crispness. I also have a...

Steve Von Till of Neurosis plays Warmoth Strats!

That's awesome, had no idea those guys built warmoths.  Two great bands, really innovative.  I just saw Converge a few months ago but they were playing First Act guitars.

    nut?

Hahaha puuuulling this back on topic, sort of, can anyone give a brief rundown of what the different nut widths are for?  When does each one work best?

    need advice about shielding

Not to hijack this thread, but, since I'm new at this and I want to learn as much as possible (read: this may be a stupid question) but do you ground a stop tail bridge?  I've seen tele bridges grounded, but I'm not sure I see how a stop-tail bridge could be grounded, if it needs to be...

    StewMac Wiring Kits

Cool thanks, I may piece things together, might help me learn more too.  As far as the pots, for a rear-route control cavity on warmoth guitars, do you use the long shaft or the standard? Also, for future reference, what's the difference between straight 3 way toggle switches and right angle 3...

One DYI finish method from a Warmoth Player

Do you use a stain under the Tung Oil to color the wood or does Tung Oil naturally color the wood darker? Also, how do you achieve a semi-gloss finish with Tung Oil?  Anyone have any pictures of a Tung Oil finished guitar?

Haha, thanks for the help you guys, just what I needed!

    StewMac Wiring Kits

I found this link posted on this forum, and on it I found these 'wiring kits' for pickups. http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics,_pickups/Supplies:_Wiring_kits/Wiring_Kit_for_Les_Paul.html Would you guys recommend something like this?  And if you do, for a rear route LP style, would you use...

    plastic pickup covers

Oh I see, so the wood goes outside the pickup cover so you don't scratch it, and then the wax drips inside the cover around the pickup to lock it in, correct? No wax should touch the top of the pickup or the polepieces, if it does, is that a problem?

    plastic pickup covers

So on a seymour duncan type pickup with the exposed pole pieces and screws (say, like this: http://img3.musiciansfriend.com/dbase/pics/products/0/4/5/246045.jpg), you can just slip the plastic cover over it and you don't have to worry that it has no holes? And I suppose that since it's plastic...

    plastic pickup covers

Oh great, I've been to allparts before too.  So, pickups with the adjustable screws (pole pieces right?), you'd have to have a pickup cover with holes?  How does that work if the plastic covers don't have holes?  I suppose you could drill your own or is it not even needed? If you had to drill...

    plastic pickup covers

Hello, this is my first post here.  I'm planning on starting to build a warmoth flat top LP style guitar in a couple of weeks. I have a question that's more aesthetic based than anything.  I like the look of EMG pickups, the matte black plastic pickup covers, but I'm leaning more toward using...
