I had to file the saddles for the t.o.m. on my double cut carved top build; I used nut slotting files but I'm sure that there's probably a cheaper alternative if you don't already have nut slotting files
Cool pickups! One of my buddies has a Pegasus/Sentient set and they're great, tight sounding pickups for heavy tones.
Personally I'm not the biggest fan of the soloist aesthetic and I think something more unique like the Dinkycaster shape would be more... well... unique! Another cool body shape...
Hmm, sounds like you're doing it right. I use cut pieces of blue shop towel for applicators, but t-shirt should work too. Maybe just make sure that you're using very little oil; just a couple drops to cover the whole body for the later/final applications
Canary and paduak are fantastic and have a pretty similar feel in my experience, dry and fast, slightly more open grained than roasted maple. I also think that color-wise either one of these would look fantastic with the holo flake. Both are considered to have a relatively bright tone.
