    KOA Twins. Tele /Strat

Well they are finally done. I really hate to sell these but I have to. Watch the videos. I was totally blown away by the Charlie Christian pickup in the Tele. Thanks nonsense tele. You gave me an idea. I've made several set neck guitars but I never thought about making one using warmoth parts...

For me the joy is in the building. I would love to keep them all. However I need to sell them off in order to find new woods and try new things. My professional playing days are over. My arthritis has progressed to the point that single line lead sounds like a cat trying to bury crap on my fret...

    IT'S TWINS!!!

Hi guys. I just opened the box and feel like it's Christmas again. That Koa I had that wouldn't untwist I sliced into one piece tops. Sent them to the custom shop and had Ken make twin tele/strat bodies. Mahogany backs with maple sandwiched between. Just got the first coat of sealer on them...

The bridge is a fender clone but good quality. I've not had good luck with cheap tuners. I used Schaller mini lockers. Warmoths price is better than anybody else I could find.Schaller strap locks also. The pickups and controls should be the best you can afford(cts,crl,etc.). I used lace sensor...

The neck wood is mahogany from the same large board. unfortunately there is no more. I did get one more neck from the board. I'll save that for my next project.

Now I'm at the hardest part. WAITING. The final coats are on and now I wait for the lacquer to shrink out before final sand and polish. It's hard to believe this was made from one board of honduras mahogany. Ken Warmoth emailed me and said in 30 years,he has never seen mahogany with this figure...

Well its almost done. I was waiting for a new project to get milled and I saw this body and neck on the showcase. I wanted to see what I could do with the cheapest body and neck I could buy. Poplar top route 129.00 maple neck with discoloration on peghead, ebony board, 135.00. I bought them and...

Today I got my wood back from warmoth. It came back fantastic! weighs 2lb. 13oz. I've got a vynyl sealer on it right now and tomorrow I will start the finish. I've decided on a set of lollar pickups. Warmoth should receive the neck wood tomorrow. Fiddleback mahogany with ebony fretboard. Ok...

    Scratch Build in Progress

Jason Lollar of Lollar pickups wrote a great how to book on building pickups. He's arguably one of the best and doesn't mind sharing his knowledge. He even tells you how to build a pickup winder from , I believe, a refrigerator motor.
