    Squier Vintage Modified electronics

Hello, I have a VM Jaguar and I had initially intended to replace all the electronics right away. It actually had a wiring issue when it arrived, but it was just some of the wire was touching another part of the switch. Anyway, to my surprise, the switches and pots are all pretty good...

Warmoth Jag/Mustang Neck on Squier VM Jag?

Yep, on my third bridge as well. I started with an ashtray Fender 3-saddle brass bridge, then went to an ashtray 6-saddle bridge and am now on the Gotoh "modern" 6-saddle bridge. This one actually has better sustain and less twang, but the sitar buzz is just never ending. The frets are...

Warmoth Jag/Mustang Neck on Squier VM Jag?

Yeah, here was the thread on that--you and I were actually talking back and forth there as well: http://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=22674.0 So, as you can see, I've already done a LOT to it as have several "professionals". I have actually done a couple more fret levels myself...

Warmoth Jag/Mustang Neck on Squier VM Jag?

Cool "mini" guitar!  :guitaristgif: Okay, measuring the neck itself, still in place, the widest part seems to be about 55mm, so the pocket is probably 56mm, which is right on Warmoth spec. So it has got to be very close, if not right on. I'm tempted to try it, but will probably pull the neck...

Warmoth Jag/Mustang Neck on Squier VM Jag?

Hey Cagey, That may be what I saw and just didn't read it all the way through before. I thought it was strange that in my internet and forum searches that I couldn't find ANY info about someone swapping a Warmoth Mustang/Jag neck to any Fender or Squier Mustang/Jag body before. Just questions...

Warmoth Jag/Mustang Neck on Squier VM Jag?

Thanks Cagey, I will see if I can get a good measurement then. Next time I change strings I will pull the neck off. I may even be able to pull another Strat Warmoth neck off and see if the heel and screw holes match up. That should give me the answer. For some strange reason I thought I had...

Warmoth Jag/Mustang Neck on Squier VM Jag?

Yeah, I'm kind of wondering if the Warmoth neck is a bit wider at the heel. I would need to take the neck off the Jag to really get accurate measurements. I've been off by a few MM on other builds and it was no dice. That's why I'm wondering here. I know there are some degree of "standards" to...

Warmoth Jag/Mustang Neck on Squier VM Jag?

Hey Everyone, I've searched long and far and can't find the answer, so thought I would ask here. Does anyone know if the Warmoth Mustang/Jaguar necks would fit the Squier VM Jaguars (and Mustangs)? Are they a special fit only for the Warmoth bodies or were they also designed to replace...

Neverending Fret Buzz - Advice Needed

Thanks for your comments Cagey, I get what you are saying. My thought was that this neck has barely been played on so the fretboard has not really worn in any way. I do have guitars with extremely worn fretboards but perfectly straight frets so, I relate to that. I wanted the notched...

Neverending Fret Buzz - Advice Needed

Okay, after spot leveling the higher frets, a new bridge, lowering the nut slots a little bit, I also ordered a notched straightedge and measured everything again. Here is what I observe now: 1- Overall the guitar plays better. The buzz is still there in the same spots but not as bad. I would...

Neverending Fret Buzz - Advice Needed

Hello stratamania--already bought that device from StewMac, it's awesome! I have also measured the fret height at the 1st fret where each string travels across and will add the height to that so, I should be all set. That doesn't mean I won't screw it up but, at least I know have the right tools...

Neverending Fret Buzz - Advice Needed

Hello Everyone, Sorry for the long time away. I have reread this thread many times since and have been working on it slowly. I just thought I would report in and say more thanks to all that have chimed in. I took apart the guitar and got the neck as straight as I could and going over it...

Neverending Fret Buzz - Advice Needed

Okay, moved it up to .012" relief, same action, with capo on 1st fret and while it improved the playability (I think as a result of eliminating the nut height) the buzz is still there. It has improved a fair amount. The G string 5-8th frets is still pretty bad. If I put the capo on the 5th...

Neverending Fret Buzz - Advice Needed

That actually does make some sense from a physics standpoint. I will play around with the relief and action using the capo always on just to get and see if starts to make a difference. My next plan is to move it up to a .012" relief, reasonable action with the capo on and see what happens...

Neverending Fret Buzz - Advice Needed

Hello Everyone, It took me a little longer to get to it than I thought but, here are all the current measurements. Buzzing starts at around the 3rd fret, ends around the 12th fret on 5 of the strings (the high e seems okay). The worst of the buzzing is from the 5th through about the 8th fret...
