Making Strat bridge pickup sound like a Tele...

Harmonic Design Pickups makes a strat bridge called the STP which is supposed to be tele like. I have one but have not yet had a chance to install it. https://www.harmonicdesign.net/allpages/strats.html There is also this vid on a particular David Allen set

Fretboard alternative to rosewood - Bocote, Goncalo Alves, Kingwood

I'm very late to this but also consider Bubinga for a fretboard, if not now then possibly in the future. I have a strat with a Bubinga neck and fretboard and I feel that I perceive a nice combo of warmth and clarity. Just my two cents worth.

Talk me out of this Swimming pool route nonsense (?)

I have swimming pool, HSS, and SSS routed bodies. I can't hear any difference I would attribute to that and no audience is going to. I understand any two guitars (like two 335's, just as one example) can sound different to a given person. Sum of all parts, the room, the amp/speaker, the players...

Warmoth discontinues Butterscotch Blonde and Mary Kay White

Good reminder about Tonar on the forum. I know Joe Riggio and he does great work. MJT will also do those colors and I have gone to them a couple of times for translucent white and was happy. So, don't panic!

    Wenge Fretboard

I have a strat neck with a Wenge fretboard. I haven't had any issues and it feels fine. I've had it on a guitar with 6105 frets for at least three years now. I once had an all wenge neck for a tele that I ended up not using but it felt fine to the touch as well.

    Seasonal Greetings 2021...

Thanking you! Merry Christmas to all of you. I continue to learn a lot from this group. Gave myself a comfortable futon for the holidays, a great step up from a cot and I am already sleeping better, have some time off of work, practicing guitar everyday, and planning a future trip to Japan when...

Ever change your mind while waiting for Warmoth?

It generally takes me quite a while to distill down a plan for an instrument. I feel blessed that I have felt solid about the end results so far. I did cancel one order and paid the fee as cost-of-doing-business and on another project I changed the whole project while waiting and still have the...

Replace Fender American Series trem block with Callaham.

Buying Callaham is like flying first class.

    Where do you all vent

A couple more years until retiring and I want to grab it with both hands. Been working in higher ed the past few years and its a parade of the unqualified and untrained being placed in charge of people and functions. The guitar actually helps a lot, and long walks.

    Meadowhawk headstock a regular option?

Oh Aaron, I don't think your comment is going to get any likes......

    PNW techs

Just wanted to chime in as people continue to move to Seattle etc. This is very admittedly my own personal opinion and is certainly subjective. I have tried several techs in the Seattle area and have found most of them to be very stuck in vintage Fender and Gibson mindsets unless you are dealing...

ISO luthier/tech for Warmoth assembly in Pacific NW

I'd go with Tony in Auburn. He worked at Warmoth and is a veteran at what he does professionally.

Do Bubinga and Purpleheart necks sound similar?

That is a good question. For me, I took it that the neck will have some influence, as in the sum of all parts does have an effect, and that the player in the video specifically asked what the neck wood was and commented on the tone. It would have been helpful to have had more information about...
