What is the ideal weight for a Stratocaster body (unfinished) to avoid neck dive?

With a dense wood neck, and extra light body, they can absolutely neck dive. I built a 3.4 lb chambered body out of swamp ash/maple and a neck of wenge, and it had neck dive. I switched out the tuners for extra light ones and it still was divey.

Ok Let's see your number one favorite player.

This week, it is this one. It is an alder Soloist with a scalloped padouk neck.

    A Modern Contoured Heel

I understand keeping with a known standard, like Fender's dimensions. I think it is the same with Seymour Duncan. We could completely re-design what a pickup looks like and how it works, but the market demands backward compatibility. Now within that structure, there is nuance, and that's where...

You can see the connector below- it makes it easy to swap loaded pickguards. 1 wire for the bridge ground, 1 for jack ground, and 1 for hot. BTW, those 1983 Strats were actually cool playing guitars. I don't think Fender's fanbase was ready for that change. I did hate the pickguard-mounted...

You can actually combine the ground wire and the jack wires with a molex connector. Music Man does this, and I do it on my builds, too. As far as the jack on the pickguard, Fender tried that on Strats in 1983. It lasted 1 year.

Are roasted flame & birdseye maple as stable or does the roasting process change the percentage?

Neither of these pickups have ever been my 'thing'. But lots of people dig them.

But...Beck's best playing was on a Strat or an LP.

I am with you that hex screws would be better. Magnets, even better. But I hate playing dreds, though. My acoustic is a super-contoured carbon fiber Emerald. I am not putting up with a sharp edge in the ribs, ever. I don't have an opinion on a Tele, because it is not a serious instrument, and...

I'd add that 22 frets should have been the right choice from the beginning. Not having any body contouring on a Tele was wrong, too. And, he used to use slot-head screws for much of the guitar, which should be nowhere near and instrument. I do love the volume knob placement, though. I won't...

New video: for all of you who pushed me to try Wilde pickups!

That's not a bad idea, though!

There's static in my attic on channel Z....

Metal springs, and absolutely no, NO slot head screws.

Here in Florida, this is pretty alien to me.

Which non-Strat headstock for an 80’s inspired rear rout Strat body?

But a Warmoth superstrat is about as cool as you can get!
