Definitely agree with the last post. 3-5 coats should be plenty.

I've always had luck using the instructions on the guitar re-ranch site. I typically spray 12 coats total, using the formula of three a day, wet sand tomorrow followed by three more, repeat till 12. And the first coat should be very very lite- let sit about an hour then star the 3 coats. ......
