    Alternate Picking practice/learning question.

Just play scales... any scale you play pick the notes alternately.  It will become 2nd nature and you'll find yourself beginning to pick efficiently where required.  At least that's what I found.  It will become automatic over time - If the string/note combination called for it you'll pick a...

    Pro setup really necessary?

Easy - TELL HIM EVERYTHING! Seriously though, don't worry what he/she needs to know.  Tell him everything you just mentioned!

    Pro setup really necessary?

In my opinion no, but you know what they say about opinions. I've always setup my own guitars, in the beginning out of financial necessity, now because I've learned how and know exactly how I like it.

    Playability

Good job man!  I love doing my own setups.  Nothing like knowing it well and being able to tweak when you feel you want a different feel.

    LP bodies prices insane?

I had a similar question to the OP but didn't want to post an inflammatory post so never did.  I've always been a strat guy and thought how cool it would be to have an LP.  Well, off the shelf they are outrageous so I thought "Hey, I built my strat, I can build an LP".  I was shocked to find...

    Playability

I agree with the others, no worries.  But this seems a strange question to me. I see playability as the function of setup, assuming there is nothing majorly wrong with any of the components, which in the case of Warmoth I do not believe you have anything to worry about.  Quality components...

A couple of questions about my guitar..

NO no no... glad it was small and can be fixed, but you don't get off that easy... what was the problem?

    Effects of universal route

My '95 Am Std has a swimming pool and I love the thing (have TS pickups in it though, not the originals).  The only difference I notice in it and guitars without the pool is that the Am Std is louder when played without an amp (i.e. just twiddling around).  I can't tell an amplified difference. ...

    Rebar harmonic. .. ?

Tim, John, This was off the amp speaker (I used my bassman so it was clean as possible) through a sort of cheap PC mic... all I could lay my hands on at the time. I'd be up for a new thread.  I was going to start taking some measurements with different p/u combinations and with my other...

    Rebar harmonic. .. ?

Hey Tim, Being the complete nerd that I am, I actually made some measurements.  I'm new to theory and such, so some of this is clearly known to all, but I owe you a bit of an apology.  I was thinking only harmonics that are a multiple of two (octaves) and didn't realize until it was right in...

    Rebar harmonic. .. ?

Agreed. That's cool I thought you just meant harmonics.  No offense intended. I'll be the first to admit I do not know how many inharmonics are generated when striking a single string on the guitar.  It would be interesting to hook up a frequency analyzer and see.  Maybe I'll borrow one from...

    Rebar harmonic. .. ?

Please note that a harmonic is an integer multiple of the fundamental frequency.  So 440Hz, 880Hz, 1320Hz etc.  So the fact that different harmonics are present does not mean different chords, it means a different mix of the octaves. The accentuation of different harmonics by an instrument is...
