    Scarf jointed necks

The issue with scarf joint necks is that over a long time, you will get uneven drying or shrinkage of the wood that will cause the neck to back bow right around the scarf joint. This is a common problem on old (late 80's to early 90's) Ibanez necks. Although the thin nature of the necks may be a...

Another Angled Neck Pocket Problem? ***UPDATE (page 3)***

Lots of guitars including very expensive ones use shims in the neck pocket. I like the brass ones that go under a Floyd nut. Try one of the 0.3 mm ones in there.

My main guitar, ten year old soloist carved top

Yeah those Jackson headstocks look cool but they're really meant for a locking nut and a Floyd.  I don't think you'll ever get really great tuning stability with that. You might want to consider getting a neck with a Strat headstock.  You could even get a veneer that matches the body, which...

    Ping Floyd Rose

I highly doubt it.  There are probably 10-15 of them on there in the $50-60 range.

Glad to hear you did not end up with an Edge III.  Hopefully the Ping trem works out.

    Ping Floyd Rose

I was looking at this on an iPad before.  The trem he bought IS an Ibanez Edge III.  You can see it cast in right by the fine tuners.  You can pick those up any day in pretty much mint condition for $50 on eBay.  I was kind of trying to be nice before.  This is a BAD trem.  Ibanez was using it...

    Baritone Bridge Pickup

Thanks again for the opinions.  I'll play around with the different cab models and see what I come up with (I run the Axe through monitors). My guitar is an RGD2127Z, which I bought specifically because its an extended scale (26.5").  I wanted more string tension for the exact reasons you...

    Ping Floyd Rose

That Ping looks scarily similar to an Ibanez Edge III, which is not a well regarded trem. From looking at that picture, I'm 99% sure you don't have hardened knife edges, which is gonna be a problem.

    Baritone Bridge Pickup

Thanks for the tip on the pole pieces, I'll keep that in mind. Definitely not into the whole chugging thing, was basically looking for tight bottom end, just like I get on my six but with the ability to hit a few lower notes. By the way, the Fractal (at least the newer ones) behave exactly as...

    Baritone Bridge Pickup

Was playing around with the seven for a while last night.  I really wish I liked the distorted tone of these pickups more because the clean tone on the neck pickup is amazing.  I may end up trying to salvage that pickup in all this.  The guitar is just so resonant and has a huge, bassey sound. ...

    Ping Floyd Rose

A Lo-TRS 2 is considered the worst trem Ibanez ever offered. It's a good thing you didn't try to put an Edge or Lo Pro in there they would not have fit. People looking to replace those use either OFR's or Edge Pros. Make sure you change the garbage studs out as well.

Gotoh SGV510Z Tuners & Tuner Holes

Bringing this thread back, but I have these same tuners and just ordered the standard Gotoh tuner hole size.  They fit perfectly.

Drilling Warmoth Transparent Finish - Tips to avoid cracking?

No problem.  I used that method yesterday and it worked really well.  He is right though, cit the holes with CA before you put the screws in. I was able to locate the holes decently well with an awl, but running the bit backwards, more than just being safe on the finish, REALLY located the hole...
