lesson learned about finishing maple necks

It is good for learning. I took it off last night and tweaked the side mount truss adjustor. I can get the thin E sting side straight but the other side is bowed backwards just a bit. It's not too bad. When I string it up, the backwards bow will come straight and there'll be a slight relief on...

lesson learned about finishing maple necks

I have three Warmoth maple necks. The first one I ordered for my Vester Traditional strat was well....my first and you live and learn. I didn't order any finish for it since I like the feel of no finish...but then after, I noticed the warning that WM puts on the finish page on the website which...

thanks for the tip. I have another capacitor and was thinking about putting it one. the other strat I have has one for both middle and neck pickups so with the 5 way switch, it has tone control on 4 positions. I don't know...still thinking about it. One thing I have learned...I havne't played a...

Got a capacitor from WM and put it on. I have good tone control on the neck pickup and neck/middle position. Nice. Love this guitar.

    New WM Strat in Belize

I honestly don't use a trem much when I play. But this one doesn't feel as....bouncy? Softer on the return. The springs are much less tense than the ones on my other two strats.( All have 4 springs).  When setting it up, I tightened the spring screws down to what felt like my others, and it...

    hybrid Fender/Warmoth Strat

Here's my other guitar. A vintage 70s American Strat with a modern vintage WM, compound radius. I like the feel of this neck more than the 6.25" it came with. 3 bolt micro tilt fit in with no problem. It doesn't sustain like my other WM guitar but it's about a lb lighter.

    New WM Strat in Belize

Just got it together. A few minor bugs but it wasn't so hard. I'm really happy with it. Swamp Ash body, Birdseye Maple with ebony fretboard, Schaller mini locking tuners, Wilkinson floater bridge, Fralin Blues Special pups. Plays great. A bit heavy but I guess that's what makes it sustain better...

can`t turn the truss rod enough...

I'm pretty new at this, but on the "Anatomy of a Neck" section on WM's website, it specifically states, "Never adjust the neck under full string tension - always de-tune the strings first". Also it goes on and says, "If there is a large amount of resistance in the side-adjust nut and it is...

see if this a better shot. I'm new at this s**t. NOW, I'm going diving....

    first assembly attempt

see if this attaches....If it does, the dark one is the complete guitar I just assembled. Ebony fretboard, birdeye maple neck, swamp ash, Wilkinson trem, Fralin pups. Lots of sustain...more than the vintage 70s American in the other pic. But the WM neck on the Vintage is great. anyway, I've been...

Also put a Vintage Modern neck on my store bought strat. I adjusted the Micro Tilt bolt all the way out, bolted it in and it seems to be about perfect. I've had it strung up for two days now and been playing the s**t out of it. I like the feel of this compound radius better then the 6.25" that...

    first assembly attempt

OK, I've assembled the guitar and it works really well. The bridge was pretty well adjusted and I only had to change the length of  the bottom E. I'm really stoked with the outcome. One thing though, I haven't put a capacitor on the tone controls. The one I ordered wasn't in the box.  Although...

Yes, they make a three bolt micro tilt in the Vintage Modern model.

    first assembly attempt

I ordered "Build Your Own Electric Guitar", by Bill Foley along with all the components. I'll also get some practice putting a Warmoth compound radius neck (coming in the same shipment) on my store bought Strat (Vintage 70s American) before I start the assembly of the complete guitar. Thanks for...
