Hottest Strat pickups that retain the Strat character?

I have Texas Specials, Vintage Noiseless, and Rio Grande's and they all have the Fender character but different tones. It really is a matter of taste. The Vintage noiseless are probably the closest too a standard Fender sound. The Rio Grande's are my favorite. (Muy Grande HSS) So much of the...

    workbench organizing

A few years ago I built a computer desk out of two by fours and scrap half inch board. I never got to use for a computer desk as I got into guitar building shortly after that so it became my guitar building desk. It was cluttered all the time but functional. I did most of the work on the...

    Custom 61' Strat Replica

I have a Fender 62 Reissue and a home built SRV strat. For the SRV strat I used the Gotoh Vintage tuners. Excellent! The previous set I had on there were supposed to be Genuine vintage Klusons. But they had the closed stem, no slot, and I had to file them to fit. And they cost more. The...

    poplar body (nothing exciting)

Got my Poplar body W guitar. And once again impressed by the workmanship. $129 and its a piece of art. Amazing especially when placed next to a Mighty Might body. All the holes are precision, the neck fit... well you know. Amazing.   So I have 10 guitars..  and only 1 W and now it feels like I...

    Why poo poo the poly?

I was refering to the actual shooting process. With poly shoot a light pass(tack coat).. wait a bit.. shoot a wet pass.. and your pretty much done. With lacquer the works just starts after you shoot. Poly will cover a surface better than lacquer. So for the rookie thats a plus. Rookies often...

    Why poo poo the poly?

Poly paint dries like a plastic coat(specially in your lungs) and as such is very durable. Removing poly off a guitar can be quite fun. So much fun that if you strip one coat of poly you probally won't do another.  But if you want a good durable paint for your car/guitar poly is great. Lacquer...

How many Warmoths have you built?

I have built about 20 guitars. I have the parts ordered for my first warmouth. I have had a warmouth neck sitting around my shop just waiting to be used for  the last couple of years. It was for a SRV project but the neck was just too good for it. I bought the cheapest neck in the showcase and...
