I certainly don't know the answer, but my knee-jerk reaction is that it's VERY expensive to try them out. Not like you can find that sort of profile to demo somewhere before committing to something rather unusual.
IT guy here - if the cup holders were on outriggers, then maybe. Liquids over electronics always ends badly.
But otherwise love the concept!
Worst offender was the condensate drip tray on a mini-split installed right over the main power plugs to several racks of equipment on.... a ship. No...
Was at CVS tonight and picked up a fresh soft-core nail buffer. 15 minutes on the couch with the detuned strings propped up on a sharpie, and my new SS frets are glassy smooth like they should be. Clarity, volume, and sustain all up up up. :headbanging:
No fret leveling or other major...
I read some descriptions of the "standard thin" vs. other "standards", which convinced me that it wasn't THAT thin, and that when stretched across 1.75" it would be enough.
I have size-large male hands, but relatively thin, which means I can hold a lot of volume inside my hands. The narrow nut...
Thanks!
Haha yeah, that's got a 1x10" Weber in it. A bit dark, I think. My buddy made the cab and the enclosure for the tube amp on top, which I don't use because aggravating.
There's a Hotone Nano Legacy Mojo Diamond on the pedalboard right behind the guitar neck that drives the cab. MUCH...
Here she is with better light.
Also my after-strings fret polishing technique. Should have done this first, but they felt pretty good. It's not so much a question of finish level as finish *direction*. The finish should go along the long axis of the fret, not across it. The SS is much harder...
Just finished my wide/thin neck install (see other thread), and it fills my hand very nicely vs. the stock CV neck. I'm pretty well convinced that neck volume overall matters vs. merely one specific dimension. VERY glad I decided at the last second not to go with the 59 profile on this 1.75"...
Did some of the googles, cross-referenced screw specs and learned the Squier neck screws are #8's. Checked Warmoth neck pilots again, and they ARE 1/8", but snug. I hand-reamed them with a bit, waxed the screws, and.....:
I'll try to get a better shot with more light (on the guitar) tomorrow...
I'm ready to bolt this up, but out of an abundance of caution...:
The neck screws from my Squier measure 0.1295" at the un-threaded shank, and 0.160" across the threads.
The warmoth neck pilot holes appear to be ~7/64" = 0.1093"
A 1/8" (0.125") bit is very much too large to drop into them...
Got the bushings installed tonight. Needed a tiny bit of sanding inside the holes. Examined the tuners, measured screws and bits. Deferred alignment/setup/jigging/marking/drilling for tomorrow or Saturday.
Same issue here with a Squier CV neck. I went up to a 1-11/16" neck on an Ibanez AM53, which also has a thicker profile at 0.825" behind the first fret. The Ibanez is totally manageable, but I'd prefer more width.
1-5/8" is narrower than the stock CV Tele. (1.625" vs. 1.650")
Currently...
Tung takes forever to cure, in my experience, but I've never tried that fancy stuff!
I waved some 600 and 1000 at the neck, wiped it down, and gently wiped on some BLO. I'll give it another gentle wipe or two tomorrow between things.
The tuner holes will need the slightest of sanding/reaming...
The neck arrived and it is SMOKIN'! :-o
6150 frets are bigger than I realized. The width is right on at 1.75", and the carve feels good. I think this is what I've been looking for. It had better be!
The docs that came with it say to drill pilot holes oversize for tuners etc.. The heel is...
Thanks, All.
Neck is due today.
I do small-scale wood and metal finishing as part of my hobby, so I have all the abrasives etc. Usually I'm not too worried about dimensional stability in such a precise way, tho.
At the moment, I'm thinking of wiping a few light coats of BLO in there to get...
I'm excitedly expecting my first Warmoth neck this week. It will be roasted maple.
I picked roasted maple for stability and low-finish requirements. However, I DO want to seal it up at least somewhat against moisture/liquids. Presumably I could use a basic furniture wax at a minimum. Are there...
