How about a 34" scale 5 string bass with 19mm string spacing at the bridge. I have a Gecko that I love but I prefer a 34" scale.

Sounds like my bass! I have an aluminum black Hipshot A on my medium Gecko 5. I chose aluminum over brass for lighter weight and emphasis on highs. Sounds and feels just as I expected. I couldn't be happier.

Yes, I was very impressed with the wood. This is the standard AA figured top-not upgraded. The neck is also standard maple. I wondered what it would have looked like if I shelled out  few more bucks.

Its finally finished and I love it. Ash/quilt body, maple neck/maple board. Nordstrand DC5 pickups/Aguilar OBP-3 preamp. Hipshot hardware. I finally have the tone I've heard in my head. I'll definitely do this again.

Please help! I am a wiring newbie. I am trying to wiring my Gecko 5. I ordered an Aguilar OBP-3 pre-wired ( I assumed this would make it very simple) preamp and am using Nordstrand DC pickups with single/ series /parallel for each. The diagram says attach the bare pickup wires to ground but this...

Its a medium 5.

I did another sanding with 1500 grit and added another coat of poly ( Miniwax wipe-on gloss).I found out the trick was to thin the last few coats. I have ordered the Micro Mesh papers for the final sanding and polishing, but I think its turning out great so far.

Thats the problem I have. It is not buffing well. Should I try some of that swirl remover and polish after steel wool or some other remedy?

Someone recommended Micro Mesh fine sanding papers. Anybody here use these? Or should I get a hand buffer?

I have a Gecko that I have been finishing myself. This is my 1st build and I am very pleased with the results. I have about 20 coats of rub-on poly on the body and I like the results-all grain is filled, glassy and smooth. I just want to get out the final tiny specs out. I could actually live...

I know this was stated somewhere before but will an oil finish suffice to keep the warranty for necks. I've got a maple neck with maple board.I'm leaning toward Danish oil followed by a wipe-on poly for the neck and body. Or would tung oil work better?

My ash body/quilt maple top Gecko with maple/maple neck is due for delivery tomorrow. I plan on applying an oil finish. Which on of these is the most clear? I would like it to enhance the grain a little but keep the pure clear maple color.

Thanks for the response. I really like the Geckos and just ordered a 5 w/19mm bridge. That is the spacing that I prefer. I was planning ahead for o a possible 2nd build using the G5 body and angled neck. I was comparing them to my Pedulla Rapture-34" scale, 19mm, and my Lakland Skyline-35"...
