    No CAR?

I saw "No CAR?" and would only add that I just got a Jazz bass with matching HS in this very color and it is spectacular.

    Who bi-amps their bass rig?

I used to do it (maybe a dozen years ago). Had a Hartke rig with their bi-amp head, a 210 and a 410. I sure did like the way ot sounded, but as time passed I am less inclined to hump the extra cabinet. I started with an Eden 212XLT and have now been using and Aguilar GS212 for some years. It...

    32" Scale J Bass

Padouk with Ebony fretboard for Guitar

I'm not a guitar player but I have a Padauk/Ebony neck on one of my basses. I will recount my own experience for what it's worth. The bass started as a one-piece Koa Jazz body that was originally marketed by DiMarzio (that's not a typo) back when I bought it in '82. I didn't know anything about...

    Warmoth Neck Ebony Vs. Maple

I have a Warmoth bass (carved top Dinky P Mahogany body with a Maple cap) with an all Macassar Ebony neck and my impression is it's like a graphite neck made out of wood. Extremely stiff giving great focus and sustain to the notes, and being unfinished just a joy to play. I wanted something...

    Flame Koa top, decisions, decisions..

I did a carved top Dinky P in Mahogany with an amber stained quilted Maple cap. Here's a shot of the back with a clear coat, and a side shot showing some of the red running through it. The color is is pretty accurate - it is fairly light. I think it looks great.

    Finally, out of it's cage.

I have 4 all Warmoth basses, the latest just a couple of weeks old. Three have finished maple necks (one all Bird'seye, one all plain B/B and one plain with an ebony board), and one all ebony - unfinished. They've all followed the same pattern - after initial assembly it would take one or two...

    Jazz Bass - Precision Sound?

Before you buy anything new try wiring the pickups in series. You can get a push-pull volume pot to let you switch it in and out. It's a $10 change and you may be very pleasantly surprised at the results.

    CAR Jazz

Got a couple more shots to put up.

Looking for a better P-pickup - Yall might want to check this out.

My favorite all around flats are Chromes - they are the stiffest of the bunch IMO and have a great bump in the mids. LaBella's are really good too, a touch softer, great tone. DR has started making flats and I like them too, kinda like the LaBella's. I think the best sounding flats are...

Which potentiometer for a flat top/rear rout?

Just to add to the general info here regarding a bass - I just got a rear routed standard Jazz bass and had to go with long shaft pots. Standard pots were not long enough.

Looking for a better P-pickup - Yall might want to check this out.

I have an '88 AV 62RI P and if this is still the same pickup I say +1. I got some flats on it and this bass has that vintage vibe in spades. You can't go wrong with a Fralin. I am also a big fan of DiMarzio's. I think of them as vintage with a little more muscle. Though I'm sure the new ones...

    CAR Jazz

I took a look into the cavity last night and there are no resisitors on any of the pots. I'm going to see my tech sometime next week when I bring it in for its first tweak after settling in and ask him more about it. Stay tuned.

    CAR Jazz

Thanks all! I really like the new slim profile neck - nothing drastic but enough to make it extra comfortable. line6man: I originally wanted it to be a stacker. I have several basses with that setup and I like it. howecer, Nordstrand recommends 250K pots for volume and treble. Stacked pots...

    CAR Jazz

My latest Warmoth, completed 3 weeks ago. Now that I've had a chance to get it out on some gigs I can pose it. Candy Red Alder body, Maple neck (slim profile) with a blocked Ebony board and vintage tint/matching headstock, Hipshot vintage tuners and brass A bridge, Nordstrand Big Singles run...
