The set I have has all pickups poles of same height. "Modern" version. Btw, they had the "vintage" option, with magnet poles in the middle slightly higher, but I went for the modern one.
Meanwhile, I don't want to keep junking the forum with this issue, unless I have any more updates. Very...
Really? I specially put into the video the B & D string on 14th fret to compare to G. Don't you notice the sustain on B being longer than on G? And D sustains much longer. Talking about signal volume, G has this waving loud-quiet-loud-quiet-... oscillation, much less pronounced on B/D. And not...
I did. I think I still hear same issue with pups lowered all the way to the guard. But I need to re-assess it, as maybe I'm going nuts already. Moreover, I went as far as detaching the neck, and re-doing all the truss-rod adjustments from scratch - btw, it went surprisingly easy, playability...
Yep, sounds similar. Esp. when playing with od/dist. I'm using Rose Robusta pickups - btw, while I have no personal experience to compare, many times heard them described as "fender fat 50s on a budget".
Here you go, I hope you won't label me as insane. Stratitis or not?

Next step for me is to try lowering pickups, and see if it helps.
Well, this is not my video. Just something I found which seems similar. Just for the record, attaching photos of my pups.
But I will record sound samples and play with pickups height, as promised. I invested too much into parts to just throw it away.
Before I record my own sound samples, I found a video demoing similar (or maybe same?) issue to experienced by me. Also, it is on 3rd string, with adjacent 2nd and 4th being Ok:

Yep, the build is relatively old. I tried to live with it, but can't... Reverting to my other guitar all the time instead.
I'll try to do a sound samples this weekend, before messing with pickups height. As for 2nd/4th strings, no, I don't notice such pronounced artifacts on them. Only 3rd.
No string trees. Staggered hipshot tuners, which work great.
Can't comment on trem springs/saddles, but... Trem is a trem. It holds in tune great, I don't think there's anything else I can demand from its setup.
I know how the buzz from unleveled frets sounds, it is not it. And understand it is easy to assume the issue is caused by the bad setup, as it is indeed often the case. I really do not think it is the case here. Setup and playability is great. To me it is indeed sounding like a few "overtones"...
Standard strat. Alder body with modern roasted maple neck. Technically the build seems impeccable, the neck fits the body like a glove, and playability is great, but one defect is quickly becoming a showstopper for me:
something is very wrong with the way 3rd string resonates when fretted from...
But then there will be a tuning issue, no? Problematic low fret (followed by a high one) will sound out of tune? One of reasons, why I believe it is just resonance oddity, is that there're no issues with tuning whatsoever. Oh, and also it is not a single fret that has an issue, more like a...
Not yet, on the first set of 10-46 put on after the build completion. Will soon try 9's anyway, but w/e I managed to google, states this issue is not fixable by string change, even different gauge. Will see for myself soon.
