Finally got around to finishing this beauty up. The final setup was done professionally. The action is absolutely incredible. She melts in your hands. I still can't get over the flame. There was no way I was covering it up with a pick guard. Such a unique looking Tele.
Yes, I ordered black side dots. 90% of the time I am singing while playing so even the side dots don't do me any good. Last thing I have time to do is watch dots while I play. As if remembering the lyrics, singing and making sure I don't mess up the progression/timing isn't enough. :)
Neck has been ordered. Birdseye Maple on Birdseye Maple. Warmoth Pro 10-16 compound. Satin finish with mother of pearl dots. I think it's going to work out very well with this body. The MOP dots should be just enough to bring out the binding of the body yet keep it clean and simple.
Nice work Tylereot. I'm still not exactly sure what i wanna do with the neck. My vison with this guitar is to keep it simple and show off the beauty of wood. The pearliod binding was a last min decision that, quite frankly, I was nervous about. After getting it, I can't decribe how happy I am...
I do agree with a lot of what you say. However, Gibson has admitted there are ways to strengthen the headstock but won't do it because it would slightly alter the feel at the top of the neck. the wood is so thin between the headstock and the top of the neck. That is really the problem. Mine...
Les Paul himself hated Gibson guitars. I stuck up for Gibson almost my whole life. But there comes a time when it's just a name and you realize they arn't worth the money. For as openminded most musicians generally are they are as closeminded as it gets when it comes to name brands. "It's got to...
If you call it dropping it while it was still in the case then yes. They used to be a good company. Now they are garbage. Products are overpriced for breakable china. Like you've never heard of a broken LP. I personally know 3 friends not including myself with repaired headstocks. You pay $2500...
I wouldn't be able to do the custom inlay work. Would I buy the custom inlays and then send it out to a comapny to have them installed then add the clear coat after? Or does Warmoth do custom inlay work if you send them the material?
Trust me, I am now that I have her in my arms. I would really like pearloid blocks on a birdseye maple fingerboard. Could you imagine how that would contrast the binding on the body? No neck binding, just the blocks on the maple. WOW !! I've never seen pearloid inlays on a maple fingerboard...
You know what? Who cares. I just sold my Les Paul Standard at half it's value because the headstock was repaired. That company can kiss me you know where. I will never by anything with a Gibson name on it again in my lifetime (esp after this). You know, they refuse to make a slight adjustment to...
I haven't ordered the neck yet. I wanted to get the body in first before i decided on the wood.
Warmoth Pro
10-16" Radius
Standard Thin
SS6150
Grover
Now the wood, i'm leaning towards Birdseye Maple Neck/Fingerboard. After seeing how white the pearloid binding is I think I have changed my...
You know, your right! Flamed maple is a scary route to go. I just wonder if the fact that I ordered everything for the body but a pickguard, had anything to do with it. I've noticed some of the flamed tops that arn't as pleasing as this one have the weird grain where the pickguard would cover...
My first Warmoth build. I will post images as I go through the assembly process. I am amazed at the quality of flamed maple they chose for me. The perloid binding with this wood selection is mind blowing.
