I have a set of SA's (not the loaded pg) and a set of hot golds. The hot golds are probably more versatile but I prefer the SA's. Without Gilmour's rig, the SA's are more versatile than his chain limits them to be.
That's the best way to describe the difference between Floyd and Wilky I've heard yet, totally agree.
I always keep the Wilky up a bit, doesn't feel there is an initial resistance when I want to be subtle.
My big complaint about the Floyd I had was that to change a string you have to do a lot...
I think it's going to be a very suite guitar. The SA's will surely sound more comfortable with the CAR body around them :), almost made for each other. Love to hear a clip when it's done.
That's a legit concern. My first W was a fatback and I never was able to get comfortable with it, even though I have large hands. I wound up replacing the neck.
Definitely play one like it before you order it.
This is a better picture of what the first effort was trying to do. You can see a big difference when the guitars are mic'd, not so much when plugged in. That is what I would expect from my own collection.
