Tru Oil directly over trans-tint

I have a swamp ash body I'm going to use trans-tint dye mixed with water for a vintage burst. Is it OK after I dye it and it thoroughly dries to rub a few light coats of Tru-Oil directly over the Trans-tint dye? My plan is, after the light coats dry, go with a few heavier coats? Will there be a problem with the dye smearing?

Thanks

I've done tru oil on top of keda dyes and it comes out great. Don't know anything about Trans tint but I Don't see why not. Is it water based like keda?

Cool. I thought it it would be OK. I saw this guy do it @ the 10:00 mark in this video and thought it looked great.

Thanks for your help!

@Rick, Trans-Tint is indeed water-based. I've used it frequently to tint water, DNA, or lacquer. Lacquer in a spray works best for me, as hand-application with water or DNA resulted in blotchiness (probably more a critique of my technique rather than the product, though
;) )
