    Another NPD

This time a Cusack Project 34 Selenium Rectifier Pre/Drive. The introductory run sold out in the first day or two, so I pre-ordered one from the next batch. I've had time to play with it, and it's a terrific overdrive/preamp pedal. In the 1930s, before germanium or silicon, selenium rectifiers...

    NPD...

New pedalboard day, that is. I just finished putting this together and playing it a little bit. It's pretty simple but covers a lot of ground. And the pedals all talk to each other very nicely - I can turn them all on and it still sounds good.

FS: Barber Electronics Gain Changer overdrive pedal - WITHDRAWN

Very versatile, great sounding medium gain overdrive. Perfect working condition, like new appearance. Velcro on bottom. Getting hard to find good used ones. $160 shipped - continental US only.

    Spaceman Meridian

Imagine a pedal that will do chorus, vibrato, phaser, and more, by just turning knobs - and sounds great in all its manifestations. That describes the Meridian Time Modulator by Spaceman. I wasn't even aware of this company until I saw this pedal demo'd in THIS YouTube VIDEO. Granted, Ryan - the...

    Does anyone else like/collect knives?

Here is my modest little collection: 3 Spydercos, 2 Benchmades, 3 Case pocketknives, an Extrema Ratio, and a Klotzli folder. What have you got?

    Reminiscing over past builds

These are all Warmoth builds that I've sold over the years (except for the last one - the red Velocity, that I gave to my granddaughter). Why did I sell them? I don't know, I guess the thrill was all in designing/choosing the parts and having them built. Then of course I enjoyed them for a...

In a crowded sea of OD and Fuzz pedals...

here is one that stands out - for me anyway. It's new, and I want one. They're pretty affordable: $200. Here are a couple of cool demos:

Gratuitous picture of a Matchless Chieftain...

on the cover of a catalog I photographed and put together for this client, from back when I had my advertising and design agency. Excuse the poor quality of the photo - it's a shot I took of the actual catalog - not the original image.

Do you play acoustic guitar, and feel adventurous?...

and are thinking about switching to a different brand of strings. I have something kind of different for you to try. Dogal is a string manufacturer based in Venice, Italy, founded in 1950, that makes hand crafted strings for guitar and other stringed instruments. They are unique in their use of...

Can I brag on my talented granddaughter?

Katrina (20 yr old) has her first paid orchestral job - for a musical - coming up. She'll be playing flute (she also plays piano, cello and guitar). She is also teaching music theory and flute in her music school. Not bad huh? And she's the director for beginning band theory classes. To say...

    What picks are y'all using?

I rotate between these for the most part. The Honey-Picks Bumblebee V2 shape on the left is made of Kirinite - a hardened acrylic. It's bright, and great for rock, power pop, fusion, etc. The Pickboy Modrez in the middle is made of resin and is warmer/darker than the other two picks. It's good...

    My 7/8 S guitar...

I don't believe I've shown it on this forum. I had it assembled, fretwork done, and setup by a luthier (who now works for me); and it has undergone some changes since then: it now has Righteous Sound Redwood Strat pickups, Schaller S Locks, Gotoh locking tuners, and a set of set of Stringjoy...

    A small monster by Rivera

I believe Paul Rivera himself (designer of Fender Super Champ, Concert, Deluxe Reverb II and Princeton II and others) may have personally designed my Rivera Venus 3. It's a beautiful practice or club amp, with a duo of 6V6 power tubes running in Class A, reverb, master volume, boost switch and...

Hello again after six years absence!

I was a regular contributor here for several years, but haven't made an appearance for the last 5 or 6 years. Just thought I'd pop in and say Hi, and check out what's going on here nowadays. I've been busy with my own guitar company - Pinter Instruments - but still have one of my Warmoth sourced...

    Stealth boutique amp

I love my Deluxe Reverb RI, but haven't been completely satisfied with it either. The highs were a bit shrill and harsh and it lacked "presence" compared to the Matchless Chieftain and Lightning amps I used to own (I know, it was stupid to sell them... they went out in one of my periodic...

NKD (New Knife Day) Very cool little tactical folder

Is anyone here besides me a pocketknife aficionado? Let me share my unboxing experience of this great little guy I got in the mail today:

In the mail: a tube amp to fit in a briefcase!

When I saw a video for this I had to have one. It sounds great in the vids... we'll see when it arrives. I'm thinking it may just be a perfect amp for a small NAMM booth (this gave me an excuse to also order a Weber Blue Dog 15 watt speaker and an empty cab). The amp is made in China by a...
