Kind of infatuated with this one:

That's a handsome part.  Smacks of the Wilky but with a roller saddle.  Might as well build a guitar around it.  Folks have rationalized builds on far less.  I, for one, have an eighty-nine cent Mylar capacitor in my desk drawer that's begging to be clothed in a guitar.

That's a good-looking bridge. I've used a similar one from them a couple times...

...and they work really well. High quality part, too. They call it a "vintage" tremolo, but I'm not sure why - there's nothing vintage about it. It has pivot post spacing like a Floyd, so it's not a Strat upgrade without some work. That Tremolo 2000 part you're looking at looks like it'll drop right in a standard Strat route and drill pattern. Didn't know about those. Gonna have to give one a try one of these days.

Just be reasonable. Ask the capacitor what it wants to be, and where it wants to live, THEN start planning your new guitar!

I'm out and about so can't check it myself right know.
Anyone able to check is this would work with the Ws Recessed Wilkly route?  Also what is string spacing (in inches) from e to E?

Cagey, if you look closer the one Frank posted is a Tremolo 2000 not the Vintage tremolo. The arm fitting is the same but the post spacing is the same as a two point strat rather than the Floyd type spacing of the vintage.

I know. Maybe my post doesn't read well.

Cool, I notice you edited it. They do look very similar so easy to for folks to miss.

Why they call the Floyd size mounting Vintage is a bit of a mystery. The best I can come up with is that it gives you something akin to a vintage style non locking bridge on a Floyd spaced mount for those that might want to retrofit.

What's weird is I've bought two bodies that were drilled for that wider pivot post spacing. In both instances, I didn't know that was coming. Not something you ask about or check for, as it's kinda unusual. First one sorta pissed me off because I thought I was going to have to install a Floyd on it. But, I found that "vintage" Schaller, and a good time was had by all. Second time around I was not upset as I knew I not only had recourse, it was to a superior part. Now that I know about the 2000 series, that widens the field even more.

Yes there are so many options available today,  we would need a few extra decades to try them all.

I quite like the wider spacing of a Floyd type mounting as to me it seems more stable. One of these days I am either going to make something with a schaller vintage or a non fine tuner Floyd.

I recently had a set of flat-wounds laying around and I found myself thinking about building a guitar for them. I'd say your bridge/trem inspired build is fully legit.

WOT? :o
You mean I have to build guitars around all the sets of strings I have lying around? :o
