i was wondering how exactly to get a sample of the wood your warmoth body is made from.  i've seen pictures of you guys dyeing samples of the wood of your guitar to make sure its what you want for the grain, but im not clear on something....does warmoth package sample hunks of wood with your body? or is that something you have to ask for? or do you just find a hunk and hope the dye looks the same?  :dontknow:

thanks!

Wamoth does not offer them, but you can get em right here:

hm... i guess it would be nice to try out a bunch of woods...it just worries me to not be able to test dye the exact wood the body i choose will be with 3 or four colors...but from looking around trying to find the dimensions of headplates, i found places that offer sets of headplates in one kind of wood at a time...thank you for the link Black Dog!

If you took apart the guitars made by many a people here, I'm pretty sure you would find that the control cavity, pickup holes and neck attachment shelf are dyed some pretty odd colors... (hint).

There's a few ebay sellers that sell planks of limba (Korina,) swamp ash, and all varieties of maple.  It's on my list of "things to do when I finally move into a house."

I picked up a strip of figured maple from my local WoodCraft store.  It wasn't as figured as the top of my tele but it gave me a decent idea of how things would ultimately turn out.  They have other species of wood as well however if you are getting really exotic you might have to check out the LMII link previously posted or do some further digging to come up with a suitable option.
