Wood Plugs for filling old bridge post well holes? Superglue and sawdust?

To fill in holes in the body from where the old bridge was fastened should I get: end grain, face grain, or side grain wood plugs: which of these is the option that would provide the most robust result, won’t split or make the drill bit wander when drilling new pilot holes?

Or what about mixing sawdust with superglue. Saturating the hole in body with superglue, then packing it with the sawdust/glue mixture and letting it cure for a day or so?

I repaired a friends homemade build using a wood dowel. He had drilled the tailpiece holes but they were off center slightly. I cut the dowel just slightly longer than the hole depth. I then mixed some wood glue and walnut sawdust to fill in around the hole edge and sanded flush. Redrilled the holes on the proper center lines and good as new.

That’s what we’re all here for. To learn and share. We’re both new here but I got a lot to learn and a lot to share having done 12 Warmoth builds in the last 6 years with 5 more sitting on the shelf.
