I guess it at least keeps me from buying it and waiting even longer to finish the tele and LP I have unfinished, but still.

Yep and it was only a paltry $895.  If I would have had the cash I would have been all over it at $700 when it was on sale.  Alas, the timing didn't work out.  :dontknow:

minus the binding, and with block inlays. and i'd have been drooling over it as well.

.. well ok. i am drooling, just not with intent to buy.

That is a nice neck, however they grafted the headstock piece from another piece of wood. It doesn't match the rest of the neck, to me if you're going to ask 895 beans for a neck it should at least be matching pieces... :dontknow:

The joint is there and it doesn't look to me like it is cut from one piece of wood.  The Koe neck is a lot more obvious, but it is still spectacular.

The deal breaker for me would be what looks like a weakness running through the headstock....when I look at a piece of wood for a body or neck I have to feel its solid as a rock....even at half that price I wouldn't have wanted to purchase it, simply because to me it looks like a nice knock against something solid and it would split across the headstock...I know that is probably not the case for real...however cosmetically it appears to me as a weakness in the neck....that said, it is absolutely a beautifull piece, but I wouldn't be able to convince myself to buy it for the reasons I mentioned.

Yes, they all have the joint, that's the way they're made. But the one I posted looks like it was made from the same piece of wood to me, or a piece very similar.  The headstock piece matches the shaft almost to a T... :icon_biggrin:

I agree that in most circumstances they probably could have matched it better, but Koa isn't expensive for being plentiful.  My guess would be that they didn't have the wood to match it and matching that flame would be pretty difficult I'd think.

Probably so, I'm sure koa is a bit more difficult than most..Especially flamed.... :dontknow:

The joint gives it strength, innumerable of people have broken their LPs at the headstock by setting it down hard and the headstock (because of the stupid LP angle) splits
