Excuse my ridiculous ignorance, but what is this wire that came in my Warmoth body? Ground?

Believe it or not I've almost got this thing together, and it's hotter than I even imagined, but this wire is giving me pause.

I appreciate it!

Pics would help.

All I can guess is it's a ground wire. Can't imagine what else it would be.

I decided to call and ask my stupid question in person, and indeed it is the ground wire.

What am I supposed to do with it? I have swapped pickups before, but never from scratch. I don't see the ground wire on the Seymour Duncan diagram I intend to use to wire up my P90's. This is my first time with single coils too.

Does the ground wire get soldered to the jack or something? I feel like a total fool.

Thanks a lot btw Aaron, I love your videos, and I love the guitar you guys got me.

You leave one end in the body so that it's touching the bridge, and the other end gets soldered to the back of a pot (or wherever your ground is)

I would assume that the body has threaded posts installed by Warmoth.  The wire is already there as that is the only way to get a solid ground connection (the post holds the wire firmly to the side of the hole).  Rock on!

I recommend you buy a book :  dan earlwines guitar player repair guide and check out wiring diagrams at freeway, Dimarzio and Seymour Duncan. :turtle:
