Hey there,

Does anyone have a method of removing all the strings from a guitar that has a wammy bar,
without taking the springs off?
I've got 2 with Wilkinson VS-100 on them and would like to be able to clean the fret boards with minimal effort.

Any tips or tricks or "this is how I do it" comments would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Sure. Before you cut the strings, dump the whammy and place a pen or pencil wrapped in tape or cloth under the back of the vibrato system. That will keep enough tension on the springs so they won't try to pop off the block. Snip the strings, and clean to your hearts content. After you restring, dump the whammy again, remove the pencil - tune it up to pitch.

Thanks AirCap!

I found a nice piece of old belt leather that fits all the way across and supports the tail piece well.

Problem solved!
