Why is Google Chrome so much faster than IE8?

The subject line is more of a rhetorical question but feel free to get your geek on.  I've noticed that Internet Explorer v8 (IE8) is just so slow at loading the Warmoth site (an admittedly image laden site).  IE8 will indicate that it is done loading but is effectively locked up as it loads the final x number of images.  Google Chrome on the other hand speed loads the Warmoth site.

I'm pretty happy with Google Chrome so far.  Anyone experiencing slow IE loads?

Any version of IE is a huge festering oozing security chancre. The latest versions of Chrome run JS faster than anything else.

IE should be used ONLY to access Exchange  Webmail or if your corporate structure still persists in running outdated ActiveX code on their infrastructure requiring IE to run.

On many places, I've found safari to run just as fast as chrome, but chrome's interface is much easier to use IMO.

I am not a web builder, but a friend of mine is. He hates IE with his whole programming soul. He's told me that when making a website, there is all sorts of special programming JUST TO GET A WEBSITE TO WORK WITH IE. In some cases, he's said he pretty much made two differen websites . . . one so it would work with IE, one for all the other browsers. IDK why it is like this, other than to say . . . it is Microsoft. whadda ya expect?

Well, first of all, Google Chrome isn't IE, so that gives it about ten times the speed.

Of course, Mozilla FTW

WARNING: Do not switch to Mozilla if you frequent "adult" sites, or suck at computers. There is no built in security, your computer will catch viruses like Tommy Lee catches tail.

Your friend is totally right :sad1:

.... you have experience in that field? :laughing7:
That's why i like Chrome, it's just to press Ctrl-Shift-N, no stress  :icon_jokercolor:

I just downloaded it and tried it, and now its my main browser, I used to use firefox. Not any longer, google chrome is FAST

I downloaded IE just as a backup, but I typically use Mozilla or Safari.  Every time I've had to reformat my hard drive is because someone used IE.

It just takes a few ad-ons to make Firefox run nice and smooth. You should spot at lest three here.

Plus, I'm anti-Google in general.

Everyone who uses IE experiences slow loads. It's the worst browser on the planet, bar none. It's so bad, it's frightening. It's the buggiest, most insecure, malware-laden POS ever foisted on the public, short of Windows itself. If any other company shipped a product that bad, they'd have been sued out of business many, many years ago.

Tha's my overall impression of computers, dare I say technology in general. I try to avoid all manner of gadgets and doodads. I'd like to add that I'm only 24.  :laughing7:

That's pretty young to be a Luddite <grin>

Computers get a bad rap largely because of Microsoft. Stay away from Windows and use Linux or get a Mac if you can afford the abusive premium, and life gets a whole lot simpler.

Chrome is faster cuz it's shiny.

No but really, it's simply because Chrome isn't loaded down with as much extras that IE comes with (security, plug-ins etc).

To be fair, I'll be 25 in a couple of weeks. Either way, I revel in being a Luddite. That way I get to laugh smugly at my computer-savvy friends and their geekery, all while feeling secretly jealous of their abilities and insecure about my own ineptitude. I'm a complicated man.  :laughing7:

I actually have a mini-laptop running Linux. Absolutely hate it. Can't make the damn thing do a damn thing. And that's why I hate technology: because I can't make it submit to my will!  :evil4:

Oh, I know. He's ALWAYS right, dang him! :( Seriously, though . . . he was the head programmer for my LEGO robotics team back when I was in middle school. We beat a team of Lockheed Martin engineers . . . (sorry to any of you engineers out there on the forum . . . twice.  :glasses9: That's right. We beat the rocket scientists. Literally.  :laughing7: And in front of a lot of people, too. The rematch was at the State Fair, after all.

I guess that explains my urge to "build" a guitar,  :party07: rather than just pick up someone else's idea of a guitar  :guitaristgif: for $100 on craigslist.

I was a Chrome user for a while, loved it, but wound up switching to Firefox after Chrome started having issues with flash, and certain websites. And all of my tech questions to the google forum went unanswered.... But I got used to Firefox, and now I won't go back....
