Which screws go where?

I've got a contoured heel warmoth neck the screws that came with include two short and two long which ones go where?

I wanna say the long screws go toward the bridge, short on the neck end. (not 100%)

Put 'em through the holes without a neck on there and check screw length sticking out.  If one is too long & another too short, there's your fix.

Alternatively, wait around for an answer from someone that has had a contoured heel body.

WARNING! Be careful, if you use the wrong screws they could exit through your fingerboard!

Have built 3 Warmoths with contoured heel and all are assemblemed as listed above.  On the first one I contacted Warmoth and Spike verified this configuration as well.

to be honest, it's really not so obvious. i wish contoured heel screws were 3 shorter screws and 1 longer. before i bolted on my neck i would play with the screws for a while, feeding them through the looking to see how much of the screw popped up inside the heel. you could put the shorter screws on the 2 sides nearest to the headstock, or both on the bottom of the guitar. they would work either way without damaging the fretboard.

BUT i decided the contoured heel didn't give me a whole lot more room and i didn't like that they didn't sit flush with the neck plate. no more contoured heels for me.

Straight answer here... I have 2 warmoths contoured heels. Short screws go towards your headstock, long ones go at the bridge end. As mentioned, I you do them the other way around, the long screws will exit through your fingerboard.

this is my old swamp ash / purpleheart strat compared to my telecaster deluxe. it looks like a huge difference, but i never really felt like it was a ton different in my hands :dontknow: could have just been me. i also hate how the the screws won't sit flush (one screw on the purpleheart is sticking WAY up because it was partially stripped. i didn't want to get it stuck so i didn't screw it all the way in, then replaced it later).

I had ordered a contoured neck as well, and I was worried that something like that would happen where the screws can't mount flush to the plate.  I know they may predrill the holes and all, but I might consider making an angled path for the screws that won't go in flush.  If they forgot to do the contour I wouldn't be broken hearted. :laughing7:

You can get the neck with no mounting holes drilled.  I assume the body can be ordered w/out holes too.  Used to, none of their necks had mounting holes drilled.

I love contoured heels, just not THAT kind of contoured heel. It's quite primitive by today's standards. I like Fender's the best, then ESP, and Ibanez (in that order).

definitely agree! ibanez's AANJ is awesome. my favorite ibanez didn't have one though, an old RG570 with the big block heel. but the $15 for the slightly smaller fender-style neck heel just isn't worth it to me
