I'll steal the idea from another thread...

I was just told that warmoth cant do any custom paint options right now due to high business volume.
so the body that i am going to order will most likely be a 3 tone sunburst.

the question is, how should i do the pickguard and knobs/pickup cover.

keep in mind that this will be a jazz bass, not a strat. kisekai didnt have a jazz bass model, so this is the closest i could get.

I'll have to agree with RLW, 4. But I reserve the right to also like what's behind door #3...... :icon_biggrin:

Where is the white pearloid option? or better, a cream pearloid pg!
He's not asking to build your guitar Marko...... :icon_biggrin:

Hey BTW, me and my bro are going to be at Hooters in Plano tomorrow night for bike night...You shouldstop by and have a beer with us..... :occasion14:

I've always found these kind of posts semi-strange.  You need to pick what looks good to you.  I think tortoise pickup covers are freaking ugly and the sunburst paint job overdone to death so I would never do any of those combos.  But if you like it, do it.  It's your guitar. (or bass).

so why didn't you choose that option?

I did a poll like this and then ignored the results. But sometimes it's nice to get other options.

personally, i could go for any one of them, so i am looking for the option that most people would agree looks best...
there are no tort pickup covers in any of these, unless you mean the tort pickguard.

whats wrong with the sunburst? it looks very similar to the paint job on my MIM stratocaster...

I would make one just like this...

i decided agaisnt that.

1. i am only using the bridge pickup, so i want the neck pickup route covered up by a pickguard (i still want the routing, so if i ever change my mind and want the pickup again...)
so i would be forced to omit the routing and always be stuck with just a bridge pickup.
2. it just doesnt seem like a jazz bass to me without a pickguard, so to get a clear pickguard with no pickup route would cost me $50.
3. thats a little bit too much like jaco to me, and i want something thats a little bit unique

The real life version of #1 is here:

i am using a squier fretless neck, because my warmoth neck is being epoxied right now.
and the body is a cheap agathis squier body, until i can get a warmoth body.

Sounds Great!
Till what time are you staying there? I have a dinner appointment, but would love to pop in afterwards and drink a beer with you!

ok, so far tort shell is the winner here.

does anybody have any pictures of a sunburst body with the brown shell pickguard that warmoth does.
i think that the brown shell would probably look great with the goncalo, but i dont know exactly what it would look like on sunburst.
(kisekai doesnt have a DIY pickguard option, otherwise i would try it.)
