Does anyone know where i can get largish slabs of these 2 materials?  Im considering them for the body material of my next build so im after something like 20” x 14” x 1 3/4” for the dimensions.  acrylic plastic also goes under the names of perspex, lucite and plexiglass.  The carbon fibre composite im talking about is graphite.

Thank you in advance to anyone who can give me some help with this :toothy10: :party07:

The funny thing is that the reason I know about McMaster is that that's where you can get indestructable, battle ready, carbon fibre blades for bulding your own light sabers.  Yes, my friend and I are ultra-nerds, and we're going to be building light sabers over the summer.

If ours turn out well, I'll totally make you one.  We want to make a bunch of them and give them as gifts to our fellow Star Wars fan friends.  We have all the plans to make ones that light up and make the sounds, but you can fight with them and they won't break.  They look exactly like the ones from the movies too!

Oh, Awesome. I totally want one and am willing to pay for mail!  :toothy10:  Red Please!

Okay you got it.  I don't know when we'll get around to building them since my friend with the plans has been majorly swamped at her job lately, but it should drop off a bit by summer.  We both work in the educational system, so our crazy art projects don't really happen until summer break.  Oddly enough, we do stuff like that for our portfolios so we can get more work.  That's the type of thing you get to do when you're in the theater tech industry.

Man - you are one geeky girl.  :)

Didn't see any 1/8" graphite stock. 1/4" would be great for Gibson-style nuts, but for Fender, I need 1/8"

Or did I miss it?

You have to be if you're in the theater tech and special effects industries.  Though, I was nerdy before I got into that.  I can recite Monty Python & The Holy Grail!

Including the whole swallow argument? I never got that right...

You're not a REAL nerd until you can recite the grammar scene from Life of Brian Verbatim.

"right.. now write it a hundred times by morning or i'll cut your balls off."
