Gibson is now selling their famous "bumblebee" capacitors! Which are a cheap film capacitor fitted with a bumblebee suit:

Only $133.33 for a pair. Though I'm the only person who's noticed - at that price a single one is....

$66.66!

And yet there are guys who will swear they can hear a difference and be willing to pay for it.

The power of suggestion is tremendous.

I've heard about these. Dumbest thing I've ever heard of.
I don't know what's worse- Putting one capacitor composition in a different type of casing for aesthetic appeal, or someone spending that much money for something that costs less than a penny to make. :tard:

I paid $5 for a pair of Wesco caps and couldn't help feeling like I should have been kissed first. Seeing that these caps have actually been sold at that price makes me feel more like John Holmes.

Especially considering you can buy .022μf caps from Warmoth for $.50 cents, or in bulk for $.02 cents or less, and they'll work exactly the same way at audio frequencies while taking up dramatically less space.

But I wanted to impress someone if they looked in my cavity :o

It wouldn't impress anyone who knew any better, and the ignorant are an easy mark. Neither situation is satisfying.
