What's the thing with the Vortex headstock?

It's the former Warmoth 2 headstock, itself a slightly tweaked version of the former "Variax" headstock.  Looks like there's a bunch of little changes to the site going on. The CTV body is now the Velocity, and I suspect we'll start seeing the other carve top bodies being added soon.

ihnpts nailed it. There are several products with new names (actual names instead of acronyms), like the Vortex, Velocity, Slapshot, and Arcade, plus a whole bunch of cool new products waiting in the wings. Also, lots of web changes coming.

Oh....and the main difference between the Warmoth and Vortex is that the tuners on each side of the Warmoth headstock are offset from each other, while on the Vortex they are aligned/symmetrical.

So the size is exactly the same?

Nope, I don't think so. Close, but not exactly the same. Email: partstech@warmoth.com. The parts techs know all, as far as dimensions, etc.

Close enough for rock 'n' roll...

Top is the Variax/Warmoth2/Vortex headstock, bottom is standard Warmoth

The Vortex has a straighter string pull, which is always a Good Thing.

Thanks for the side-by-side comparison, Cagey. Looking at the two, I think the standard Warmoth is the prettier design. RIght-hand reverse on the standard W might be even prettier for a right-hand guitar.
