This year, just doing the basics.  For Xmas, the wife and I will hit my parents' home, crack open some gifts with my two nieces, my brother, SIL, and parents.  I'll also try to get around to seeing a few old friends I haven't seen in a few years, but as I never seem to have much time, I wouldn't count on it.

For New Years, we'll be heading up to the folks' house again, as they throw a New Years party, and quite honestly, I refuse to pass up on the big table of food, which normally consists of meatballs, pasta, my aunt's home-fried chicken, ham, fruit salad, salad, and of course, COOKIES!  :cool01:

1) Getting drunk.  :icon_thumright:

2) Playing guitar.  :guitarplayer2:

3) Getting more drunk.

Just the usual family get together, fights, yelling, punch-ups etc etc.
And eat & drink to much of everything.

Enjoy your's ..... from a warm 40c Sydney, Australia  :occasion14:

We're driving over to Fresno (not exactly anyone's idea of an exotic destination) to spend Xmas Eve and Xmas Day with my wife's beloved uncle. He just got done with treatment for salivary gland cancer and appears to be fully on the mend from it.  This is a special Christmas because of his recovery.  So that's good.  Plus Zoe's dad is dead, as is my own, so her Uncle Tom is one of Ollie's only grandfather-type figures, and that's very important.

For New Year's we are going to Austin to visit Zoe's mother and step-dad and adopted sister, so that will be fun as well.

I expect to do a lot of cooking wherever I go, since that seems to be the role I occupy in both my family and hers.  I love it, and it's very gratifying to watch a gang of family tuck in to a meal I made.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, etc., etc., amen.

Working.
Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New years Eve & New years Day. Only have the 27th & 2nd off. Make lots of $$ for working Public Holidays but it's work while others party, so you feel kinda isolated.
