What would weigh more: A hardtail strat, or a tremolo one? everything the same execpt for the bridge.
The hardtail has the extra wood, but the tremolo has the trem block and springs and stuff. Whatcha guys think? :icon_scratch:

I'm guessing that the mass of the bridge block would cancel out the weight of the wood you are removing, but it would depend on how heavy the block is.

I don't know how heavy string ferrules are though?

How is this relevant to anything?

depends on the trem but I'd guess that hardtail bodies would be heavier for the most part. Floyds and Khalers tend to be heavier so I bet that they might be on par with hardtail bodies in weight but that's just my guess.

i guess this was kinda a dumb question cause it all depends

hardtail or trem should be a choice that you make based off your playing style, and not off of whether you can gain or shed a few ounces with one or the other. If you want a lighter or heavier body, all of the general weights of woods (along with more of those woods' features) that warmoth uses are listed here...

I think this is actually a good question... it obviously has to vary from trem to trem, as they have different weights and different routs.  Maybe a non-recessed FR weighs more than a hardtail.  I'm sure a vintage strat trem weighs less than hardtail.

I agree

Then why did you ask the question in the first place? :icon_scratch:

Line6, you really hate this question huh?  :glasses9:

Looked it up: Gotoh hardtail bridge is 5 oz, gotoh 6 hole trem is 16 oz. I doubt they remove 11 oz of wood for most bodies.

I played a 1958 Fender Strat hard tale a few years back and it was super light and probably the second best sounding Strat I have ever played.  If you were to look at 2 bodies on the Showcase of equal weight one being a hard tail the other a vintage trem and assembled them with similar weighted necks the hard tale would be lighter. IMO

Meh. It's just that, for the life of me, I can't find any relevance in the question to anything. :icon_scratch:

I'm relatively unaffected by weight unless a build weighs well over 10 lbs, don't see what the big whoop is.....
