once, a long time ago, you could order many more woods than what's listed now! Why can't I, for example, order bloodwood as a neckback?

i thought for sure that if anybody WOULDN'T have a problem with this, it would be you, Orpheo... are you considering something OTHER than an LP?!?!? That just shakes my world.

...nothing is sound...

I absolutely only want to play les paul, but I want a straight paddle with for example, bloodwood or goncalo alves or pau ferro, so I can cut out a headstockshape I like, to bolt it on a les paul body. In fact, I want a LP jr, LPstrat en LPtele (aka: flattop LP body with straight headstock with the correct hardware and pickups, but with other woods :p ).

but ok, if I want that, I'll just buy the biggest headstock there is with those woods, and re-work it for a headstock I do like. Perhaps cutting up a strat-headstock?

Strangely enough, Bloodwood IS available for a straight paddle-neck...

...bass neck.

If it were supply that was a limiting factor, I'd expect it to be the other way around. Oh well, maybe you can buy a bass neck and whittle it down. Or have the missus wash it at high temp.

I made a little drawing, including tuners and stuff, of a stratheadstock, to see if a 3x3 head can be cut out of it, and not look butt ugly at the same time, but it seems it would work!

so, perhaps I'll just buy them from the showcase. I want a new 'series' of les pauls, directed towards fender-type guitars....

here's a sneakpeak:

korina body, jotoba top, pau ferro neck, strat singles+trem.
walnut body, cocobolo top, bloodwood (or bocote!) neck, tele singles + ashtray bridge
korina body, ziricote top, goncalo alves neck, 2 p90's, that nice wraparound gotoh bridge.

in all honousty, I want a bocote neck AND a goncalo alves neck, but I don't think thats financially viable. besides, I want superthink necks, and I think I'll have them custom ordered, just as the bodies. besides, if I'd get the bloodwood neck (which I really want!) what kind of guitar should the one with the bocote neck be? I know I want figured redwood, but what bodyback? flamed maple? and if so; what kind of pickups and bridge? woods are nice, but it has to make sense! Camphor burl is also lovely, but again, what kind of neck? what kind of hardware?!

a supplemental to the previous list:

korina back, camphor burl top, bocote neck, mini humbuckers
maple back, redwood top, and then I'll have that old ebony neck of mine refretted (or with a musikraft cocobolo neck),

but the hardware on those... I really wouldn't know :) if I were only able to pick the pickups, then the bridge would automatically follow :)

Seriously, I'd drop them an email and ask. There are often options and possibilities that are not reflected in the configurators. If they can build a bloodwood bass neck, what could keep them from building a similar guitar neck?
