What do you call the nubbin at the end of a three-way LP-style toggle?

Hi All,

I'm looking to buy one of those little nubbins, but I was hoping for a few more options than the standard white/yellow/black. Ideally I think wood might be the best option, but I could also see a cool metal one or something. Only problem - I don't know what it's called or where to get them!

Does anyone have a recommendation for a place to buy interesting versions of them? Or search terms I can use to find something indie?

Thank you!

"les paul toggle switch tip" or "les paul toggle switch knob" both yield satisfactory results for me.  Try adding in a material and you're in business.  "les paul toggle switch tip knurled" yielded this item in the top half of the first page of Google results:

Pretty nifty.

Awesome, thanks! I was able to find a nice little nickel one that will match my hardware nicely!

The official wording is "Switch Cap" make sure you get the right size :) There's metric and imperial sizing. Ask me how I know lol

Ah man, that must have been frustrating to be off by the tiniest little bit. It's a hassle to order such a small thing online!

I am using a switchcraft short switch that I got on Stewmac, which looks like it is standard (i.e. not metric) and I picked up this bad boy that looks like it should fit! Nice and shiny nickel like the rest of my hardware!

Now the only thing I'm missing are humbucker mounting rings for a carved-top. Feels like settling for plastic on that one part isn't acceptable..  :laughing7: :laughing3:   :laughing7: :icon_scratch:

For a moment I thought you meant the washer; I happen to have made 3 of those out of ebony just for fun:

If anyone is interested PM me ;-)

You wouldn't happen to cut truss rod covers would you? I have an wenge neck coming and warmoth was kind enough to give me an extra piece to cut for the truss rod cover.

I picked up a Truss Rod cover from Thalia Capos, who make nice little inlaid ones. Though I know you said you've got a piece of wood already.

Those ebony discs look really nice. I wasn't planning on putting one on at all in my case though, since my guitar is going to have a really nice green quilted maple top so I want to cover it up as little as possible! It's also a mooncaster and I'm putting the switch down by the knobs rather than on the lower horn.

seems like a missed opportunity that nobodys started a website that exclusively sells a wide variety of switch tips and specialty knobs and called Just The Tips. there could even been a place the user could leave a tip (the other kind) if their knob-tender recommended a particularly good knob or tip for their purpose
