Great show all around, but Avenged stole the show.  Don't recall ever seeing a set begin with a hanging.  That actor deserves some serious kudos.  I swear the guy didn't move a muscle after he "fell" and they left him up there for a good 12 minutes before they brought out the gurney and took him down.

I was actually kind of surprised at how visible they made the safety wires.  Then again, I guess they didn't want to risk freaking out 15000 people.

True, I'd be out of there lol

We saw Alice Cooper getting killed 4 times in one show last year :)

btw, did they announce Portnoy as their new PERMANENT drummer?

They announced him as coming into the band and said it was fitting that they move forward with the Rev's favorite drummer.  I don't recall that they said specifically that he was permanent but given that he has left Dream Theater, that was my assumption.

I'm going to and Avenged Sevenfold-show 24th of november :blob7:
I'm so looking forward to it. I hope that it will be better than the Metallica-show last year :icon_jokercolor:

I hope Mike Porntoy becomes their new permanent drummer, he's really awesome :toothy10

I'm an old fart, but these (Avenged) guys can really, really play. My guitar students turned me on to Avenged. Infinite speed doesn't do much for me if they're not saying much. First off, you have to be a good enough writer and arranger - all of my fave guys either write their own stuff or drastically re-arrange things - doesn't matter if it's country, metal, whatever. (I make an exception for Bach & Beethoven  :icon_biggrin:)  Music that got strongly "genrefied" like metal or blues tends to get tiresome - the best in these genres are clearly listening to a lot of music outside of their own given turf. Jeff Loomis is really good, too.

I for one am glad that Portnoy left DT. That band had the weird distinction that the more members played on a given record, the worse it got. Petrucci's solo album is great, the Liquid Tension CD's a bit less so, and DT had more pretentiousness in their little fingers than a whole warehouse of David Bowie costumes... :guitaristgif: I'd like to hear what Petrucci & Myung could do with a power trio.
