ok so im thinking I might like to try and sculpt my own headstock shape. I want my neck for my new Z body to be Wenge. I was thinking of starting with either a strat headstock or an arrow headstock and cutting it down to look something like the pic provided.

my question is what kind of sanding or what not would I have to do post cut in order for it to look smooth and uniform to the rest of the neck wood.?

and should I start with a strat or arrow headstock?

anyone here done something like this before (wenge or not)???

if you can see if warmoth will drill the tuner holes for you in advance. Then draw out the shape you want (freehand or with a CAD program like Sketchup) and tape or glue the paper template to the headstock. Also, make sure the edge of the headstock is exactly 1/2" from the center of the holes. From there you can cut it out on a bandsaw and finish up the exterior curves on a disc or belt sander and the interior curves on a spindle sander. Good luck...
