after which generation - 50s, 60s, 70s - is the warmoth strat body modelled after?

appreciate the feedback.

Which one, with which specs?

The Vintage one is modeled after the 50's style.
The other one can be spec'ed to mimic any era, be it modern HSH rout, or the swimming pool rout of the 80's, or whatever.

Back in the day when bodies were cut on a band saw, there was a lot of hand finishing and inconsistency to go along with it, so nailing down an exact profile from any era would be speculative at best.  Folkore has it that when production demands were up and quality was down (e.g. the somewhat imagined “CBS era”) less time was spent on the tummy contour, etc.

i am not talking about the routing. but rather the body shape - contour etc. the 50s body has deeper contours. like that.

I guess this is what it's about :

Jeez--NICE COLLECTION, Dude!!

I wish they were mine  :icon_biggrin:

And yes, the Warmoth Strat is not as a sleek as most other variations, and the forearm contour is noticeably different. So if you want something super close to the real deal, Warmoth may not be the best choice, but if you're not bent on replicating a specific contour there is nothing wrong with the Warmoth contour.

Not intending to denigrate W but there is a similar source that provides options for different body contours.

Here are two sources for the mothertruckload of templates of all sorts of guitars from all the different years:

There's lots of duplication, redundancy, probably errors, I offer no warranties etc. but if you ever get the urge to break out the Buck knife and tear up the kitchen table away you go!  :occasion14:
