Warmoth pro neck truss rod question

I have a Warmoth pro strat neck.  I had 11's on it, and I have dropped to 9's.  I need to loosen the truss rod more than the side adjust will allow.  SO... what should I do?  Tighten the side adjust, and then loosen the adjust screw at the base of the neck, and then fine tune with the side adjust?  Do I need to put the side adjust in a certain position before I adjust the screw a the base of the neck?

Thanks!

just turn the side adjust with the strings slack.  Clockwise will tighten the rod, counter clockwise will loosen it.  You want counterclockwise.  1/4 turn should do it.

You'll have to start from scratch to return the side adjustment to zero position.

Take the neck off of the body. Loosen the main truss rod adjustment at the heel. Tighten the side adjustment all the way, then back out 7 full turns. It is now at zero position (middle of its threaded travel).

Then tighten the main truss rod adjustment at the heel until the neck is straight (straight edge held against the frets down the center to tell). That is generally a good place to start. Mount the neck and string up and see where you are at. You may have to take the neck back off and adjust the main adjustment again a time or two, or it will be close enough to be a turn or two away with the side adjust - your call.
