This may be a well covered topic, but let's start a thread that only talks about the Warmoth neck heel markings.  They've been a bit of a mystery to me but sometimes I can figure most of it out.

Perhaps this thread can answer any outstanding questions.

Sorry if it's been posted before; I didn't search first!  :icon_tongue:

My first Warmoth neck was a Flamed Maple Strat neck from the Showcase.  Flame Maple/Flame Maple, Warmoth Pro Construction, Standard Thin, Standard black dot inlays, 6100 Frets, 1 11/16" nut width, 11/32" tuner holes, Gloss finish.  Clearly labeled, no questions:

My second Warmoth neck was a custom order Arcade neck, Maple/Indian Rosewood, Warmoth Pro Construction, Standard Thin, 24-fret extension, Black Mother-of-Pearl inlays, 6150 frets, 1 11/16" nut width, Floyd Rose nut preparation, Gotoh tuner hole ream (11/32" top, 13/32" bottom), Satin finish on the back, Gloss Black finish on the headstock.  So, what does the orange dot mean?

My third Warmoth neck was a custom order Warhead neck, Roasted Maple/Indian Rosewood, Warmoth Modern (Pro) Construction, Boatneck profile, no inlays on the face, 6100 frets, 1 11/16" nut width, Black Corian Earvana Nut, 10mm tuner ream, no finish on the back, quilted maple veneer with gloss purple dye finish on the headstock.  What is "BC" next to the fret size and the 898 stamped on the butt?

So, what do dots and stamps and codes mean on the heels?  Discuss...

There is a very similar thread right now

As I recall, the dot indicates satin or glossy finish

The dot is usually applied to finished neck, not only to denote that it has a finish (which is sometimes difficult to tell at a glance, especially on Satin Nitro over Maple), but also to provide a small spot where the sticker can be removed and the unfinished wood examined.

The 898 on the heel is Warmoth's internal production number. All build-to-order necks receive them. You may occasionally come across a neck in the Showcase with a number like that, and in those cases it is a production order that was cancelled.
